The Association of Producers and Suppliers of Expanded Polystyrene, with the support of OJSC SIBUR Holding and RIA "ARD", from February 1, 2013, will begin accepting works for the review competition of architectural projects using expanded polystyrene "PRECIOUS HEAT".

The show - the "Precious Heat" competition is an opportunity for all architects and designers to implement ideas for an energy-efficient and high-quality architectural solution for low-rise buildings and prefabricated structures

The show - the “Precious Heat” competition is a real chance to offer your own, individual approach to project implementation using one of the most common energy-saving materials in Europe - expanded polystyrene.

The works will be evaluated by a jury, which will include leading Russian and foreign independent architects and construction industry specialists.

The winners of the review competition will be selected in four nominations:

№1. The best project using expanded polystyrene for insulating a low-rise building;

№2 … The best project using expanded polystyrene to create a pre-fabricated structure (SIP panels, sandwich panels, permanent formwork);

№3 … The best project of an energy efficient house using expanded polystyrene;

№4 … The best student work on the use of expanded polystyrene in construction.

The prize fund of the review competition is 1 million rubles

The winners in nominations No. 1-3 will receive 300,000 rubles each, in category No. 4 - 100,000 rubles.

Acceptance of works will last until September 1, 2013. Summing up and awarding the winners will take place within the framework of the IV International Festival of Innovative Technologies in Architecture and Construction "Green Project" in November 2013.

Briefly about the material:

Expanded polystyrene is one of the most popular insulation materials both in Europe and around the world. "Expanded polystyrene is a unique material, it is actually air in terms of thermal conductivity." - notes I. D. Simonov-Emelyanov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Moscow State Academy of Fine Chemical Technology named after V. I. M. V. Lomonosov, head. Department of Plastics Processing.

According to Sinergy Consulting, at the end of 2012, in Western Europe, polystyrene foam occupies a niche of 27% among other thermal insulation materials. According to the same study, among the countries of Western Europe, Germany is consistently the leader in consumption (consuming 48% of all polystyrene), followed by France (27.9%). In Germany, expanded polystyrene is the priority material for thermal insulation of buildings, covering 87% of all the country's thermal insulation needs.

According to the PROMO PSE Association (France), 8 out of 10 private houses are insulated with high-quality foamed and molded polystyrene.

In Russia, the use of modern heat-insulating materials is becoming increasingly important today, which is associated with the implementation of the state program for energy saving and increasing energy efficiency in order to reduce energy costs.

Association of manufacturers and suppliers of expanded polystyrene today it unites 19 companies, market leaders, including international, national and regional producers of raw materials and finished products from expanded polystyrene. Members of the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of expanded polystyrene are notable players in the thermal insulation materials industry, responsible manufacturers who pay great attention to researching the properties of their products, improving the characteristics of expanded polystyrene and integrating innovative technologies.
