The IBSTOCK Group is the UK's leading brick manufacturer. The beginning of hand-made brick production in the village of Leicestershire dates back to 1830. Today, 20 factories of the company produce a wide range of ceramic bricks according to the highest environmental standards ISO I400I: over 900 million bricks per year!
Ceramic bricks have low thermal conductivity and high thermal mass. These qualities allow residents of IBSTOCK brick houses to save energy on heating and cooling their homes, which is in line with the UK's national sustainable development strategy. Also, ceramic bricks have a long service life; can be reused after demolition of the house; is neutral in relation to the environment, and clay for bricks is mined in quarries in rural areas, where the negative impact of transport on the environment is minimized.
And IBSTOCK also has eco-programs to support the habitats of bats and swifts, which are quite unusual for a Russian manufacturer and consumer.
IBSTOCK: eco-friendly habitat for bats
There are 17 species of bats in the UK that are protected by law, and IBSTOCK specialists have developed special embedded ceramic elements - houses and small window-vents for non-residential attics, which can be easily integrated into the brickwork of new buildings or existing buildings. And one model is specially designed for the bat bat! Such anxious care helps to develop a safe habitat for these wonderful mammals and allows them to live in harmony with humans. In the UK, zoos and municipalities have special programs for children and adults to communicate with these cute animals.
IBSTOCK: Eco-friendly Swifts
Swifts fly to the UK for just a few months each summer from Central and South Africa. Despite legal protection, their number is decreasing, since it is increasingly difficult to find a nest in modern or refurbished buildings due to the effective sealing of the eaves. The ceramic nest-house for swifts is designed taking into account the rapid arrival of birds to the nest, the color range of bricks on houses in England and the need to fix the ceramic element near the eaves of the building are also taken into account.
IBSTOCK is a member of such organizations as: British Ceramic Confederation and Brick Development Association Initiatives. IBSTOCK is constantly striving to improve its technologies in the field of sustainability and green building. In 2004, the company was honored with The Building Awards 2004 for its comprehensive environmental solutions. It is the first building materials supplier to receive this prestigious award.
The IBSTOCK English brick has passed frost resistance tests at the Scientific Research Institute of Moscow Construction "NIIMosstroy" (the brick has withstood 150 cycles of alternate freezing and thawing in water without visible signs of damage) and has already been successfully used in projects.
In Russia, IBSTOCK brick factories are represented by the Kirill company.
