Last week in the St. Petersburg Union of Architects summed up the results of the youth architectural competition-festival Artery-2013 "Ladoga / Revival". The participants of the festival were faced with the task of developing concepts for the development of depressive territories in the northern Ladoga region, in particular, the village of Kurkiyoki, which has become a platform for an architectural plein air. Young architects from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk took part in the competition. In total, 9 projects were developed, including 16 development concepts.
First place
awarded to the project of Vsevolod Karetnikov, whose work was recognized as the most commensurate in relation to the existing context.
Second place
took over the project of Roman Kuzminykh, Grigory Svetnik and Alexandra Bertova. It turned out to be the most thoughtful and elaborate, combining the realism of embodiment and conceptuality.
Third place
took over the concept of reconstruction of the lost church by Elena Bogomaz and Anastasia Lavrinenko. The architects managed to get away from the formed stereotype of the center of the village as a memorial, without violating the sacredness of the place.
In addition, the organizers presented two more concepts outside the competition program. The first was one of the impulses for the festival. Together with the materials of the research work on the study of the region, carried out by the Finnish architect Netta Böök, this concept formed the basis of the initial data provided to the participants of the competition. It examines in detail the urban planning and landscape structure of the Kurkiyoki village, highlights the main urban-forming objects. The concept was carried out by the "Arka" architectural group under the leadership of Kirill Kozlov.
The second concept was developed by Ilya and Irina Filimonov. They presented their vision of the direction of development of the region and tourism infrastructure.
The exhibition of the festival projects will soon take place in the village of Kurkiyoki, Sortavala and Petrozavodsk. Then the competition projects will go to Finland.
