Work on the projects began with the involvement of local residents to participate in the transformation of their native village. A workshop was held, where the residents of Borisov formed their own program for the development and improvement of the spaces that became the subject of the competition. The opinions and suggestions collected in the course of this “opinion poll” helped to correct and supplement the Test Project. The moderators of the work with residents according to the method of “project complicity” were the architects of “Project Group 8” from Vologda, co-organizers of the competition along with the Moscow architectural bureau “Praktika”. For residents of Borisov-Sudsky, this format of interaction with architects was unusual, but they readily joined the proposed design game. After the workshop, many admitted that for the first time they thought about the possibility of such a discussion.
Two sites were submitted for the competition - the community center of the village and the territory of the Borisov secondary school, directly adjacent to the Khvalevskoye estate. For each site, the teams developed three projects. Here is a brief overview of the project proposals.
School. Project "Our School"
Anastasia Myakinina, Dmitry Kashuba (Moscow)
A realistic design is subject to the fractional rhythm of the overall solution.
School. Project "Park of Secrets"
Julia Mikhaltsova, Sofia Akimenko (Moscow)
The project creates a romantic image of the "world of childhood", responding to the neighborhood with the estate and its park.
School. Project "School as social capital"
Natalia Zhernakova, Evgeniya Larkina (Moscow)
As the name suggests, the project is aimed at the social development of the school's students. The authors also proposed to include the school in the tourist infrastructure of Borisovo-Sudskiy.
Community Center. Centroweaving project
Vasilisa Goncharova, Polina Balysh, Maria Kucheryavykh (Moscow)
The idea of this concept was a continuation of the experience of research and restoration of objects of Russian wooden architecture. The team also proposed a master plan for the development of the village center, the task of which is to overcome the current trend of degradation.
Community Center. Let's start today
Bureau "Kolba" (St. Petersburg)
Konstantin and Alexandra Samovolovs interpret the territory of the center as a chain of several functional zones flowing into each other, as a result of which a program has developed with a simple and understandable "penetration" of one zone into another. In addition, the authors thought about strengthening the local identity and creating a brand for the village of Borisovo.
Community Center. All in the house project
Authors PARK (Moscow)
The project of Valeria Pestereva and Roman Kovensky is distinguished by an “urban” view of the village: the authors regard Borisovo as a tourist destination, the value of which lies in its remoteness from civilization.
While the participants were working on their projects, the organizers of the competition, Project Group 8 and the Praktika bureau were building a playground in the village. Project ideologists Mikhail Sinyukhin and Natalya Tarsukova, together with Borisov children, tested the new playground and demonstrated its playability. As conceived by the authors, this space will develop imagination and stimulate children's initiative, which, in general, was implemented: the guys came up with their own game scenarios for the playground.
The results of the competition will be announced on July 23, the presentation of projects and the awarding of the winners will be held at the MARCH architecture school in Moscow. Two best projects will be selected - one for each site, and the winning teams will receive 50,000 rubles each and the opportunity to implement their project. The results of the competition will be determined by a jury chaired by Vera and Yuri Voitsekhovsky-Kachalovs - initiators of the event and heads of the Khvalevskoye Estate Charitable Foundation. The jury also included the chief architect of the Vologda region Albert Metsky, director of MARSH Nikita Tokarev, architects Totan Kuzembaev and Stanislav Poshvykin and representatives of local and regional authorities.
