LAN architects based their project on the image of a tenement house from the era of Baron Haussmann, the second half of the 19th century. Over time, such buildings changed their function, turning from the dwellings of the wealthy bourgeois into offices, schools, workshops, shops, etc., and their constant usefulness allowed them to remain the basis of the development of the center of Paris to this day.
Such functional flexibility of "Ottoman" houses is explained by their clear structure and compactness, a variety of door and window openings that fit different layouts, the ability to change the height of the ceilings and arrange a mezzanine floor on the first tier facing the street, which makes it possible to use the lower part of the building for a variety of different layouts. commercial and public institutions.
The authors of the project tried to bring similar features to their new residential complex. It is built according to the modular grid of 1.35 m typical for office buildings, and the height of the ceilings there is the average between the dwelling and the office (3.2 m, in contrast to the usual 2.8 and 3.5 m, respectively). Not only the first, but also part of the second floor is intended for commercial use, and the mezzanine is highlighted on the facade with profiles, which should also remind of the houses of Haussmann's time.
Thus, the LAN build function can be changed if desired; at the same time, its volume makes the most of the potential of the triangular, angular section.
Another distinguishing feature of the project is its openness to the outside. Large windows and double glass doors, as well as loggias with glass railing allow natural light and ventilation of the interior. The facades are clad with black concrete panels, the aluminum window frames are black lacquered.
The total area of the building is 2,900 m2, the cost is 5.9 million euros.
