This time, the students of the 6th group of the Department of Architecture of Industrial Buildings were offered to design a museum. Every architect dreams of creating a building of this type, and in this particular case there were no restrictions on the part of the customer and the city - complete creative freedom. The specialization of their museum - contemporary art, history or the achievements of mankind - was determined by the fourth-year students themselves. Themselves also developed the task, identified additional requirements. This time, students were even allowed to choose areas for design on their own, whereas before, teachers offered students several specific sites.

As a result, the most significant territories for the Russian capital were selected, in its very center - near the Kremlin, on the main streets of the city and on the central embankments, which have recently received special attention in Moscow. As one of the leaders of the group, Vsevolod Medvedev, explains, "it is even scary to approach such areas, but it seemed possible within the framework of a student project." Medvedev also drew attention to the fact that the students were faced with the task of not only coming up with a new bright form for today, but also trying to offer innovative approaches to the design of museum and public spaces in the near future.

Among the best, in the opinion of the teachers of the Moscow Architectural Institute, were the works that became a continuation of the competition projects "Upper Moscow" and "Ilyinsky Square and Surroundings", performed by students for the festival of SMA "PERSPECTIVE 2015". There, the contestants were required to reflect on the development of public spaces in the center of Moscow, and the students successfully coped with this task: the works were highly appreciated by the jury and were awarded with diplomas of the competition. Projects modified in accordance with the new assignment will be exhibited in the Central House of Architects from November 10 to 16, 2015.

The projected museum, according to the author, should become part of the new pedestrian route "Upper Moscow". A bold, even provocative project proposes to adapt the roofs of buildings near the Kremlin walls for a museum and public spaces. The main volume of the museum in the form of a large console, reminiscent of a thundercloud with its uneven outlines and metallic sheen, hangs over the central reading room of the Russian State Library. From the side of Mokhovaya Street, the elongated volume is rounded, and the wall opposite is turned into one large panoramic window. Most of the galleries and exhibition halls are located inside the "cloud". The library premises can also be used for the needs of the museum. To implement this idea, it is proposed to dismantle part of the existing roof, and in its place to erect an atrium dome, expanding the reading room and combining it with the new museum. According to the author of the project, this technique, inspired by experience

reconstruction of the building of the museums of Harvard University according to the project of Renzo Piano, will increase the space of the library and modernize it.

Also, additional exposition and public areas are located on the roof of the book depository, which was built in the early 1970s, turned into an exploited roof. In addition to galleries, observation decks, cafes and even small green squares will appear there. It will be possible to get to the "upper level" of Moscow either through the central entrance to the library, or along special pedestrian bridges, stairs and ramps.

The Peace Museum, dedicated to all countries of the globe, is projected in the city center, on one of the busiest embankments of the Moskva River. The museum is square in plan; with its corners it is oriented to the cardinal points. The plan symbolizes the map of the world, where each of the countries occupies its real geographical position. The country is represented by its capital. And the capitals are big shiny balls that are tightly strung like beads on the threads of the floors. In total, the building has five levels, and each contains forty spherical halls, interconnected by covered glass galleries. Thus, it turns out about 200 rooms - about the same number of capitals today and there are on the world map. Inside each "ball" there is a panoramic broadcast of stories about the history, culture and traditions of a city.

The basement floor of the museum partially goes underground. The visible part of the building is made entirely of glass, which makes it seem almost immaterial, and the volume of the museum, filled with "bubbles", seems to be lifted off the ground. The central core of the building is designed in the form of an open atrium, where glass galleries open out. The structures of the walls facing the atrium resemble a spider web. Below, on the exploited roof of the basement floor, a green area has been created with places for rest of the townspeople, over whose heads a giant interactive cube is suspended on thick cables. Its surfaces are screens with constantly changing images.

The museum is located on the banks of the Moskva River, on the Raushskaya embankment. Completed as part of the Upper Moscow project, it occupies its place above the historically valuable boiler house of MOGES-1, which, according to the project, turns into a part of the museum, completely abandoning the function of a power plant. The author of the project sees this as a step towards solving the problem of urban pollution.

The volume of the museum is shaped like a long, looping pipe that fits well with the industrial silhouette of the boiler room. The architectural image symbolizes movement, a path that can ultimately lead a person to the realization of the need to respect the environment. Inside this extended gallery, the entire exposition of the museum is placed, divided into thematic blocks that consistently represent the history of nature conservation - from the smallest thing to caring for the planet as a whole. But the main exhibit of the museum is the city: glazing along the entire length of the volume allows you to cover the panorama of the historical center of the capital almost entirely. The building of the museum, located directly under the main building of the MOGES, is intended to house the administrative and scientific departments of this cultural institution.

Directly under the curving "pipe", on the upper level, there is a pedestrian route that allows you to easily get to the exhibition galleries. Access is also provided from the Raushskaya Embankment using a large panoramic elevator. Additional comfortable recreation areas and a second embankment with a small pier have been organized.

The author of the project placed her museum in a quiet Moscow park, where it looks more like a monument, moreover, strongly resembling a Soviet symbol, namely the hammer and sickle. Solved in the form of two interpenetrating simple geometric bodies - a cube and a ring - the museum presents to its visitors exhibitions dedicated to the limitless possibilities of man. The space of the cube is occupied by installations about physical victories: sports records, the history of the Olympic Games, the history of conquering mountain peaks and the development of new territories. Inside the ring, it is proposed to create galleries about the spiritual and intellectual achievements of mankind: scientific discoveries, technical inventions, the history of space exploration, unique works of art.

The ring and cube are not parallel to the ground, but at a noticeable angle. Due to such a volumetric-spatial solution, instead of stairs and ramps, it was proposed to install a lift that takes visitors to the upper floor, where a cafe with a panoramic view of the surrounding historical buildings is located. The museum is supposed to be filled with a large number of interactive and computerized exhibits. One of the raised sloping edges of the cube will serve as a light and airy amphitheater.

On the site of the existing park on Lubyanskaya Square, it is proposed to erect a building that stretches like a winding ribbon from the center of the park to the Polytechnic Museum, forming a single museum complex with it. It takes its origin at the minus level of the first floor, emerges to the surface in the form of a spectacular extended volume, made up of numerous protruding and sinking cubes. Approaching the center of the square, the museum gradually turns in a spiral and again goes underground. Such a solution, as conceived by the author, symbolizes the endless flow of time and its versatility. Inside the "spiral" is a small, quiet public space below ground level. On the roof of the museum, rectangular green lawns are located in a chaotic manner, where the townspeople can relax. The stepped surface of the roof allows you to make a varied walk along its entire length.

Inside the museum there are four main exhibitions devoted to the past, present, future and eternity. The past and the present are represented by the most significant creations of humanity. Concepts and forecasts tell about the future, and eternity implies questions of the creation of the world, expositions telling about world religions and the Universe. The movement of visitors between the exhibition areas is carried out using special trailers. If you wish, you can get off at any time and get acquainted with the exhibits you like in more detail.

A universal museum capable of accommodating any, even the most unusual, exposition is proposed to be located in one of the picturesque historical alleys of Moscow. Now on this place there is a small city square, which has fallen into disrepair despite the fact that there are monuments nearby - the Turgenev-Botkin estate, the Moscow Choral Synagogue and several interesting buildings of Soviet modernism. In such an environment, the author of the project proposed to embed an emphatically modern building with complex turns, consoles, elevation differences and sharply delineated corners. The shape of the museum is built in such a way as to support the red line of the building and at the same time to improve the existing area. In plan, the building resembles the number seven, two sides of which go out into the alley, and between them a triangular public space is formed. Taking into account the very difficult terrain of the site, both the square itself and the spaces along the building have been transformed into multi-level green terraces with benches and a lawn.

The interior of the museum is a system of halls and galleries flowing into each other. The entrance to the museum is from the first semi-underground floor. Inspection of the exposition is lined up along a predetermined route, during which you can admire the views of Moscow through panoramic windows. A passage has been created under the building that connects it with the estate. In addition to the exhibition space, the museum has a large café and several outdoor viewing platforms.

Unlike other students who worked with iconic places in Moscow, the author of this project chose the territory of the ancient castle of Montemor-u-Novo in Portugal as a design site, located between the city of the same name and the Almansor River. The basis was the task of a competition of ideas for a project of an archaeological museum, which was proposed to be designed directly at the walls of a medieval castle with its high towers, fortress walls more than 2 km long and majestic entrance gates. Obviously, in such a rich architectural and natural environment - the castle stands on a picturesque green hill almost 300 m high - it was very important to respect the history and emphasize the peculiarities of the place. That is why the form of the museum is very laconic. In plan it is a square, cut by the same square open atrium. According to the author of the project, the central atrium is designed as one of the towers of the castle. Inside it is a spacious foyer with an unusual staircase that looks like a large sculpture. The staircase leads visitors first to the history hall, then to the main exhibition of the museum, and from there to the gallery of temporary exhibitions.

The entire architecture of the museum is subordinated to a common idea - not to harm the environment, not to attract undue attention. The volume of the museum, cut into the body of the mountain and partially going underground, literally merges with the natural landscape. The decoration of the facades resembles weathered rocks, and the stone surfaces make the new volume akin to the castle. The roof of the museum is exploited, a large observation deck is organized on it, from which a view of the surroundings opens.
