On February 19, 2015, to the sounds of a saxophone, an exhibition of Andrei Klimko, a woman architect from Bratislava, was opened at the Moscow Slovak Institute at 27 2nd Brestskaya Street. The curator from the Russian side was the Moscow architect Konstantin Savkin. We offer excerpts from his manifesto.

In Bratislava, a decade ago, among the young Slovak projects, the works of Andreja Klimko - graduates of the local and Viennese architecture schools - sounded brightly. But today Andrea Klimko Architects or AKA is an international bureau that carries out projects for different parts of the world - Cyprus, China, Dominican Republic, American Florida. Currently, Andrea is inspired in London, Istanbul, Brazil, Malaysia, Africa … It seems that the turn has come to Russia. I wonder what kind of overseas motives sound now in the works of Mrs. Klimko?

Architecture is not exactly “frozen music”. It is rather a live dance. Especially when it comes to contemporary architectural creativity. Such thoughts come to mind after acquaintance with the colorful work of Slovak architects against the backdrop of the Viennese architectural waltz. This is the philosophical credo of Andrei Klimko - the embodiment of architectural experiences through the "movement of lines and waves."

Muse (or Music) evokes different images, but it seems that today many architects prefer the fluid jazz modern. Think it's not AKA?

International (primarily European) architecture has long spoken Greek and Latin. This refers to the classic order system. Today, architectural activity is international in its own way. Architects travel all over the world, adopting and introducing different traditions …

Among the projects and buildings presented by AKA at the Moscow exhibition, titled objects with international names are generally recognized: MONDRIAN, LEONARDO, MENDELSON …

The most striking from the point of view of architectural choreography is RELAXX - a sports and fitness center in Bratislava (project 2005, construction 2008). He manages to perform his eccentric sports dance in the spirit of jazz on a narrow strip between the ring road and the railway. Leaning on the ground at one end, the building curves its long, C-shaped torso and lifts the other half into the air, standing on asymmetrical supports. RHEINZINK cladding effectively hugs the athletic figure of the performer from the south side. The north glass façade demonstrates the dancer's "open soul". With a total height of 6 floors, the building is scaled not only to its surroundings, but to the entire city. This is its original authenticity, complemented by the metropolitan quality of finishing and presentable sports and health-improving filling.

Other, very different objects Andrei Klimko prefer to dance to other original melodies. Here you can hear (and see) a minuet, tango, foxtrot, hip-hop, folk dance and of course a waltz.

As a result, the collection of AKA's works at the Moscow exhibition looks like a kind of architectural ball. And as at any ball, here - its managers and its own rules. The narrow gallery of the Slovak Institute lines up architectural objects in a long line - like in an old polonaise - an acquaintance dance. And each project in turn attracts a new viewer. Music sounds: approach - impression - new partner.

Finally the polonaise sounded - the acquaintance took place. But now every AKA project invites you to dance …

You noticed? Modern architecture allows itself what was previously provided by the movement of the viewer - by changing angles, points of perception. Now she herself, as if in a dance, moves towards him.

The tradition of the "white dance" is said to have originated in Vienna. At the Moscow AKA exhibition, it appears as a rare white dance of architecture - "the poetry of lines and waves."
