The first international event for architects in Vienna, organized by Wienerberger, took place on 17 and 18 September. 52 guests from 15 countries participated in the two-day program, got acquainted with architects from other countries, and also exchanged views and experiences.
The event kicked off with a beautiful view of Vienna from the hotel's rooftop bar and a warm welcome with Christoph Domenik, CEO of Wienerberger. After that, the architects and company representatives took part in an exciting city tour, where they learned more about the historical connection of the company with buildings, structures and even streets. For example, the history of the development of the Ringstrasse, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year, is closely related to the Wienerberger brick.
On the second day, the famous architect from London Stephen Bates gave an inspiring lecture, where he considered the following issues: consciousness in megacities of a high-quality human life, designing cities without losing their individuality. Key words in Stephen's presentation: smart city and community life. He showed some interesting projects, suggested new options for the use of space.
As the lively discussion after the presentation showed, many countries are dealing with similar challenges. Further, according to the program, the participants of the event attended the Biennale. The guests took part in the exhibitions: "Uneven growth: Tactical urbanism for the expansion of megacities", "2015: Smart life in the city".
Wienerberger will continue to pursue an interesting dialogue with architects internationally.
