The Zodchestvo International Festival is the annual largest and most authoritative forum of architecture and urban planning in Eastern Europe. The organizer of the festival is the Union of Architects of Russia.
The main theme of the XXIII International Zodchestvo Festival, which took place on October 1-3, 2015 at the Central House of Artists in Moscow, was “New Industries. Positive Urban Development Practices”. Curators and participants of the festival presented architecture as a tool for urban development
through the transformation of territories.
Exposition - examples of how architecture can be used to renovate a territory. And for a farmer's fair, and for the largest industrial zone in Moscow, and for a single-industry town, and for the historic center of a small town. As part of the business program of the exhibition, successful cases of Russian and foreign cities that have implemented the strategy of creative development were considered.
Another interesting event in the business program of the festival was the open discussion "Sports megaprojects as drivers of spatial development" held on October 2, 2015. EQUITONE® (EQUITON), fiber cement facade panels, acted as a sponsor on it.
The relevance of the discussion was due to the fact that recently our country has been hosting a huge number of world-class sports events. What effect can we expect from construction projects of the football championship? Will the stadiums be empty after the event or will they become centers of sports, business and cultural life? Will they serve as an impetus for the spatial development and economic growth of cities and regions?
These and other questions were raised in their speeches by Russian and international experts, representatives of administrations and chief architects of the cities hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The discussion aroused keen interest among the festival visitors.
After the end of the event, all participants received souvenirs from the Union of Architects and sponsor - EQUITONE® (EKVITON), fiber cement facade panels.
