The complex for 800 employees is located on the former pier No. 2 of the Aarhus port: now this part of the city harbor is being transformed into a mixed development area, nearby there are new buildings: the Dokk1 library, Isbjerget and Lighthouse * residential complexes. Bestseller, a major fashion manufacturer (in particular under the Vero Moda brand), wanted the C. F. Møller demonstrated its corporate design values. The structure is really very noticeable and spectacular: the architects compare it with a flotilla of buildings of different heights (from one to 12 floors) and with a city in a city where atriums, courtyards, terraces and roof gardens are located between the buildings (in total there are 10 such green spaces). It is also a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides.
The southern and northern facades are covered with a relief "cage" of light Sicilian stone; east and west glazed. Natural stone is widely used in the interior, including furniture - along with dark oak wood, concrete, metal.
The entrance to the building is located where it rises like a bridge. From there you can see the underground levels of the building, where a garage for 450 cars and 400 bicycles is arranged, unloading areas, etc.
The interior is organized around an “inner street” with a central plaza, from where you can enter the auditorium, meeting rooms, experimental retail spaces, and the employee canteen, divided into many parts with different designs, atmospheres, sizes and degrees of “privacy”. The “street” with its terraces, staircases and balconies can accommodate 500-1000 spectators for a fashion show or any other event. In addition to the offices themselves, the building also has showrooms, photo and video studios.
Green components of the project include seawater cooling and solar energy. The architects estimate that the Bestseller complex will consume 50% less energy than the Danish minimum requirement.
