The house in the rock called Casa Brutale, designed by the architects of the studio OPA - Open Platform for Architecture (Greece - Netherlands) Laertis Antonios Ando Vasiliou and Pantelis Kampuropoulos will appear in the Lebanese mountains near Beirut. The concept of a villa built into the mountain range with a transparent pool instead of a roof was presented by the team last year. At that time, the project was completely "paper": it had no client, no budget, no site.
Not so long ago, the owner of a large Lebanese real estate agency Demco Properties, Alex Demirjan, became interested in the project. The site was chosen for the construction at an altitude of 1600 m above sea level - in the mountains of Lebanon, not far from his own health center RedRock Village & Spa. According to preliminary estimates, the project will cost $ 2.5 million. Construction is planned to start this summer and complete in 2018.
As the architects of the OPA bureau say, the Casa Brutale project is a “opposite sign” response to the famous
Villa Malaparte in Capri, which stands out against the background of the rock with a bright coral spot. The brainchild of the OPA studio, on the contrary, is designed to remain invisible in the mountainous terrain, to practically merge with the environment. For this purpose, simple building materials were chosen: wood, glass and concrete.
Three walls of the building are made of concrete slabs, and the only facade not recessed in the rock mass was decided to be made of reinforced glass - from this side a view of the sea opens. The total area of the villa will be 270 m2, it can accommodate up to six people, there is also an underground garage for three cars.
