In July, in Borovsk, Kaluga Region, with the participation of the Kaluga Region Administration, Borovsk City Hall, MastART Gallery of Contemporary Art and ARCH-SKIN, a grand opening of the “Pride of the Russian Fleet” memorial dedicated to the legendary Russian Admiral D. N. Senyavin as a collective image of a national hero, a fearless defender of the Fatherland.
For the first time in Russia, the space at the monument was transformed into an open-air art museum, which colorfully tells about the stages of the combat path of an outstanding naval commander, holder of the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky, a famous native of Borovsk district.
The exposition is a unique collection of reproductions of the greatest masterpieces of Russian classical painting kept in the best museum collections of our Motherland (Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum, Central Naval Museum) and associated with historical events of the second half of the XIX - first half of the XX century, reflecting the military merits of the Russian navy.
The organizers of the project note the special educational focus of the exhibition. The Russian state is now living at a time when it is extremely important to realize and rethink the significance of Russian history, saturated with bright colors of heroic victories of Russian sailors who defended the entire Orthodox world and proudly defended the borders of their vast Motherland.
By visiting the new landmark of the Kaluga Territory, it will be possible not only to get acquainted with the biography of Dmitry Senyavin and join the history of the brave deeds of Russian sailors in legendary battles, but also to trace the influence of epochal events on the development of Russian painting, immersed in the work of such important artists for Russian culture as Ivan Aivazovsky, Lev Lagoria, Alexey Bogolyubov and others.
