GRAPHISOFT Company®, a leading manufacturer of BIM solutions for architects and designers, today announces global deliveries of ARCHICAD® 21. One of the major enhancements in this release is the all-new Ladder Tool, which is based on GRAPHISOFT's patented Predictive Design technology.

At the first stage, the delivery of the international, German and Austrian versions of the localization will be carried out. The US version will be available on June 19, followed by ARCHICAD 21 downloads for users in France, the UK and Ireland. The remaining language versions can be installed as they are released. The delivery of the Russian-language version is scheduled for the middle of the third quarter of 2017.

For more information on ARCHICAD 21 delivery times and conditions, please contact your local GRAPHISOFT partners.

ARCHICAD 21

BIM. One step higher!

Igor Yurasov, architect, BIM-manager of PG "Archimatika":

“ARCHICAD 21 is, in my opinion, the strongest and most impressive update in the last few years. The strategic direction, focused on the interaction between disciplines and platforms, as well as movement towards classifications, work with information, data, was chosen very correctly”.

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“With each new version, the program makes a great technological leap forward. GRAPHISOFT specialists approach the development of each tool with a desire to make the best and most convenient product as a result. The example of new tools for stairs and railings confirms this."

Feedback from users who took part in the ARCHICAD 21 international beta test

Ladder Tool

Igor Yurasov, architect, BIM-manager of PG "Archimatika":

“I think this tool is a very significant step forward in terms of usability / capabilities when creating more complex or non-standard staircases. I am pleased with the variety of available options and properties, the variability of the formation of the element. In the future, I would like to see the addition of the ability to reflect not only on the relevant floors, but also on custom ones."

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“The staircase module has been completely redesigned. GRAPHISOFT specialists have done a tremendous job to make the tool as productive, convenient and visual as possible. Here are just the main, in my opinion, the key useful functions of the tool:

• intelligent search for options for building stairs according to user-specified conditions;

• the new scheme of work with the tool allows you to work with the ladder as with separate parts, intelligently connected to each other;

• ample opportunities for building and editing individual parts of the staircase."

Vitaly Ivankov, Leading Architect of AB "SPEECH":

“The tool is definitely good. I especially want to highlight a great idea with the addition of a drainage channel, as well as a solution with editing the boundaries of the stairs and individual steps, control of the graphic display of the stairs through the parameters of the model view. Special thanks to the developers for that."

Railing tool

Sergey Gromov, head of the group of architects of AB "SPEECH":

"Super! It is great that we have singled out it as a separate tool, but the interface of the tool is quite rich and at first you have to get used to it. The tool covers many design tasks. The potential is huge, since fences are present in all projects, from landscape design to "spaceships". And, of course, this tool is much more flexible than the standard library objects. Additional flexibility is provided by the ability to use your own profiles to create handrails and post elements."

Andrey Lebedev, practicing architect, lecturer at SPbGUPTD with a degree in Design and Computer Technologies:

“I am very pleased with the separate Fence tool, which does not only work with stairs. The excellent snapping to slab feature dramatically reduces model editing time. There are excellent opportunities for creating fences and fences of various types both in small private projects and in large projects of multifunctional complexes."

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“In previous versions of the program, we had to use a set of separate fences that were not intellectually tied to each other. This required setting up each of them independently of each other, as well as setting up their docking. However, like the Ladders, the Railing tool has been completely redesigned:

• the tool uses a new scheme of work, which allows flexible customization of individual parts and work with staircase drawing schemes. The basic principle is that railings are not separate library elements, but a whole structure, built continuously from start to finish;

• it is now possible to snap the railing base to stairs and slabs."

Collision Detection

Igor Yurasov, architect, BIM-manager of PG "Archimatika":

“A very, very long awaited innovation. I am glad to have the opportunity to check nested modules in a basic way, load adjacent sections, check the correctness of the model itself (search for duplicates, search by criteria, etc.). From the wishes - more opportunities (criteria) for the selection of participating elements, more detection options. I plan to use the new function in all active projects, without fail. First of all - checking the architectural model itself, otherwise - checking adjacent sections."

Vitaly Ivankov, Leading Architect of AB "SPEECH":

"Fine! There is not even anything to add. It is very easy to use the tool. We will be sure to use it in our work, identify curves of places, monitor the correctness of building a model in the architectural section and coordinate with the models of subordinates (MEP, Constructive). The next level of improvement of the tool is the analysis of the degree of intersection of elements, the ability to sort and eliminate collisions by a specific criterion."

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“When working with large complexes, it is often necessary to collect all adjacent sections in ARCHICAD. The ability to immediately check them for collisions with the underlying model greatly helps the process. In the new version, the tool allows you to check for collisions in a single ARCHICAD environment without using external programs. In turn, the Markup function allows you to track the collision resolution process in the ARCHICAD environment. The markup supports external communication through the BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) and DWF (Design Web Format) formats."

IFC links

Igor Yurasov, architect, BIM-manager of PG "Archimatika":

In my opinion, the second most important addition after collisions. A very convenient and necessary tool; just what was lacking before. We will definitely use it in all our active projects. Loading key sections, especially KB / KM. From the wishes - to somehow limit the generation of project details when pulling files of adjacent sections."

Sergey Gromov, head of the group of architects of AB "SPEECH":

“The tool provides a great opportunity to work with colleagues even more interactively. Thanks to the new system of classifiers, it is now possible to create filters for the selective reconciliation of collisions, which allows you to quickly and selectively track errors."

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“The perfection of loading IFC on ARCHICAD Wednesday has reached a high level! Now you can manage IFC loading in the same way as we used to do it with loading ARCHICAD modules (hotlinks). This allows the IFC to be loaded as a link directly into the main file without creating new elements in it. As a result, it becomes possible to competently manage the IFC update. And, of course, it is no less important that the tool allows you to work with adjacent sections obtained from other software systems, without any docking or import difficulties."

Multi-storey Modules

Vitaly Ivankov, Leading Architect of AB "SPEECH":

"Finally! Connecting buildings with different floor level structures was an absolute must for anyone who designed buildings larger than a cottage. At least this need affects all our projects, where there is usually more than one large building on the site."

Andrey Lebedev, practicing architect, lecturer at SPbGUPTD with a degree in Design and Computer Technologies:

“The ability to automatically load multi-storey modules with different floor heights was sorely lacking, and such a need constantly arises when developing several buildings and structures within the framework of one project. With the advent of this opportunity, many problems have undoubtedly been solved."

Alexander Anischenko, architect, managing partner of the BORSH company:

“In previous versions of ARCHICAD, you had to set up the same floor structure in all modules of the project. A very welcome innovation. In combination with IFC links, this setting makes it possible to work with files of other disciplines that have a level structure that is different from the main model in ARCHICAD."
