An open competition for the development of the design of three new stations of the Moscow metro was launched at the end of last year by the Agency for Strategic Development "CENTER". The winners were selected in three stages. Based on the results of the first - qualifying selection - the jury determined which of the 56 announced participants would be engaged in the development of projects (five finalists for each station). The next step was the selection of 9 best projects out of 15. Finally, at the third stage, residents of the capital joined the process. More than 200,000 Muscovites took part in voting for each of the three stations on the Active Citizen website.
The winning projects presented below will be implemented.
Station "Sheremetyevskaya"
AI Architects
In their project, the architects tried to return the relevance to the best solutions of the Stalinist era of metro construction: in completely modern forms they interpreted pylon-pillars, the use of porcelain and tiles as decor.
Station "Rzhevskaya"
Blank architects
The goal of the authors was to create a comfortable, light and harmonious space. The design elements emphasize the connection with the historical and cultural context of the area located next to the Rizhsky railway station.
Station "Stromynka"
MAP Architects
The architectural solution of the station is aimed at creating a noticeable landmark. The general idea of the project is to organize a transition buffer between three environments: metro, park zone and historical and cultural environment. The station becomes a place of waiting, meeting, adaptation when moving from the city to the metro and vice versa.
