The R&D complex in Beijing is the third such facility of the gmp bureau for Huawei: before that, there were projects in Shenzhen and Chengdu. The capital's research and design center (total area 85,000 m2) is located in the "natural" technology park Zhongguancun: a free layout modeled on the campus allowed almost all workplaces to be connected to the green area outside.
Three R&D buildings have a plan in the form of "angular" eights, composed of two squares each. Their lower parts are clad in light stone, the upper halves are clad in dark metal. The main role in the ensemble is played by the white, but more closed building of the dining room, which also houses the main lobby of the entire complex.
