Among the variety of the most breathtaking buildings in the world that captivate all architects and designers with their impeccable and picturesque views, the Bosco Verticale skyscrapers stand out - an outstanding example of the symbiosis of sustainability and brilliant design. Both residential buildings, designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri, were awarded the International Architecture Prize for Best Skyscrapers in 2004.
Two towers in the north of Milan rise into the sky with "living" terraces to a height of 80 and 112 meters. The facades of the buildings are decorated on all sides with 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs and 11,000 flowers. This lush green luxury gave the project its name - Bosco Verticale, which means "vertical forest" in Italian. If the trees of just one of the towers grew in the forest, then it would stretch over 7000 square meters. Botanist Laura Gatti has selected 20 species of trees and 80 species of shrubs and flowers for the Bosco Verticale project. She distributed them on the facades in such a way that the effect of a three-dimensional picture is created. Plants protect from the hot sun, street dust and unnecessary noise, thereby contributing to the creation of a favorable microclimate on balconies and in living quarters.
Floor-to-ceiling windows equipped with fittings from the Roto AluVision series with pivot and tilt-pivot sashes not only let in sunlight and open up a wonderful view of the city, but also create a unity of living space with the surrounding nature. The EcoMaterial certification of the Absolut level awarded to Roto fittings perfectly complements the concept of a green residential building located right in the heart of an industrial city. Thus, the "Bosco Vertical" facility is absolutely environmentally friendly. For irrigation of the "Vertical Forest", the total area of which is more than a hectare, sewage passed through filters is used, and wind and solar installations provide buildings with energy.
When designing windows and doors leading to the terrace, such important factors as energy efficiency and functional safety were taken into account as much as possible. For the project, Roto AL modular structures with external hinges were specially developed, allowing the installation of windows of any type of opening with a width of up to 1600 mm and a height of up to 3000 mm. The weight of such doors can be up to 300 kg. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials in the production of Roto AluVision fittings, residents of the Vertical Forest towers can be proud of their comfortable and reliable windows with increased heat and sound insulation properties.
