The picturesque Lake Bostal in the Saarland is actually a reservoir that has long become a popular resort area. The new hotel with the Seezeitlodge spa complex is located on a promontory, separated from the rest of the land by an oak forest. Therefore, hotel guests do not see the lake until they are in the lobby, which offers panoramic views of the water. This lobby occupies a hollow between two hills, on which the two-story hotel building is erected.
The spa with a total area of 2000 m2 overlooks the forest to ensure privacy for the visitors. The restaurant and conference center, also inscribed in the landscape, overlook the lake. One hundred rooms are located on the two upper floors, and a penthouse and a bar will appear on the roof in the future.
To provide views of Bostal from the west-facing windows, the forest was cut on this side, and the resulting timber was used to clad the facades of the building. The boards have previously gone through a surface baking process, which gives them a dark tone with a silvery sheen.
