“Brick, which retains the warmth of human hands, will definitely return to great architecture” (Paul de Vroom).
The first national stage of the independent international Brick Award - Brick Award Russia - was held in Moscow with great success. On December 7, in the conference hall of the Radisson Royal Ukraina, a jury consisting of leading experts in the field of construction, architecture and urbanism in Russia determined the winners in three main and two additional nominations.
19 works were submitted for the competition, among which the winners were selected. In the "Living Together" nomination, the winner was
Sergey Skuratov (Segrey Skuratov Architects) for the project of a residential building on ul. Burdenko (Moscow). The Working Together prize went to Vladimir Labutin (Sergey Kiselev and Partners) for the development of the Arma Business Quarter (Moscow). Sergey Kolchin (Le Atelier) won the prize in the section “Feel at home” for a private house in Shatura.
In two additional nominations "Viewers' Choice" (voting for it went through the Internet) and "Wienerberger's Choice", the victory went to Alexei Dymov for the project
settlement "Cambridge" (village Pokrovskoe) and Evgeniya Talanova ("Tsimailo Lyashenko & Partners") for "Park Rublevo" (Krasnogorsk).
The awards ceremony included, in addition to the presentation of the awards, lectures by architects Paul de Vroom and Vladimir Labutin and their discussion. In addition, the guests of the event were awaited by a concert of the Era of Cannes (finalist of the show "Voice-4") and a gala buffet.
The Brick Award is an independent international architectural award established in Vienna in 2004 by the Austrian company Wienerberger. Every 2 years for 13 years, the award demonstrates to the world the best architectural projects from different countries, which show how plastic and relevant this ancient material is. This year, Wienerberger decided to establish a national stage of the international architectural award, the jury of which in Russia included Gennady Sirota (First Vice President of the Union of Moscow Architects), Pavel Andreev (President of the Moscow Chamber of Architects), Vyacheslav Osipov (Vice President of the Union of Architects Russia), Yulia Tarabarina (editor-in-chief of the Archi.ru portal). The guest of the event was Paul de Vroom - a famous Dutch urban architect, a prominent representative of the Amsterdam school, head of the Paul de Vroom Architecten bureau.
About the Wienerberger concern: It grew out of a small Austrian company founded by Alois Miesbach in 1819 in the Wienerberg district of Vienna. Today the company "Wienerberger" has 198 factories in 30 countries of the world and is the largest manufacturer of ceramic bricks and tiles. In Russia, the concern is represented by two business units: Wienerberger (Ceramic Building Materials Europe) and Pipelife. Wienerberger Russia includes two factories for the production of large-format porous ceramic blocks Porotherm. The first plant was built at the end of 2006 in the Vladimir region near the village of Kiprevo. The plant has two production lines that were launched in 2006 and 2008. Their total design capacity is 235 mln. bricks per year.
The second plant of the concern for the production of ceramic blocks with a capacity of 150 million conventional bricks per year, located in Tatarstan, was put into operation at the end of 2008 with the design. The factories of the Wienerberger concern produce:
• large porous blocks Porotherm;
• facing brick Terca;
• ceramic tiles Koramic;
• Penter clinker paving stones.
