The overwhelming majority of residential and non-residential real estate, even at the construction stage, is equipped with engineering networks and communications. Including electrical wiring.
The wrong choice of components, unprofessional installation, unforeseen force majeure factors, wear and tear of the wiring can cause dangerous problems - arc or short circuit, sparking and fire. This is fraught not only with burned out electrical equipment, but also with fire, because it is the wiring that causes household fires in more than half of the registered cases.
Arc fault protection
Even an ordinary household, apartment or house electrical network must be equipped with modern protection elements that will automatically cut off the voltage in the event of emergency situations, short circuits, breakdowns, leaks.
One of the protective devices can be an ultrasonic detector - an arc fault protection device. By detecting a breakdown, the device does not allow the temperature to rise to critical values and reduces the chances of ignition due to arcing.
Where breakdown can occur
Breakdown theoretically can occur in any circuit - due to bad or loose contacts, damage to wires and cables. In older homes, where wiring has been in use for many years, the likelihood of sparking and subsequent fire increases dramatically. Given the condition and flammability of the materials of old houses, an arc fault in a second can lead to a large-scale fire, financial spending or even the death of residents.
A breakdown can also occur in a new house, only after repair or delivery by the developer - due to pinched, bare, damaged wires, in places of loose connectors, at corner joints, and so on. Often these problems are not visible to the naked eye, which, however, does not reduce their danger.
Arc fault detection is usually difficult without special automatic protection devices. First, it is not always possible to visually fix a breakdown, even if you are looking at the source of the problem. Secondly, a breakdown can occur in places where the wiring is hidden, including in shields, sockets, in partitions, on the roof, in boxes.
What are the UZDP
As a rule, a modern arc fault protection device operates in an automatic mode, turning off the current in the circuit not only during the detection of an arc fault, but also a short circuit or overload. When properly selected and installed, they reduce the risk of fire from faulty wiring.
Different models of SPLD differ in operating parameters, for example, breaking capacity. Therefore, it is recommended to choose a device for the home after consulting a specialist, entrusting the installation of electrical wiring and protection elements to professional electricians.
