The ZHA project is a digital system of "voxels" - volume-pixels, "volume pixels". Each has an area of 35 m2 and a height of 4 m, and the buyer of real estate can choose the place and size of his apartment by himself adding the required number of "voxels" to the point of the residential complex. Dimensions range from a studio of one voxel to a spacious apartment of five such units.
The digital principle dominates the project and beyond. The residential complex's supporting structure will be made of eco-certified wood from mainland Honduras: a special program will be responsible for the efficient use of all parts of the log. Waste minimization is also possible due to the fact that most of the work will be carried out outside the construction site, including the fabrication of the foundation - lightweight, due to the low weight of the entire wooden building.
The modular system is tailored to the capabilities of local suppliers, carriers and builders. Thus, each module can be easily delivered to the site, as its size takes into account the limitations of the transport network of Honduras. For local workers, the project will also be an opportunity to improve their skills.
The orientation of the residential complex will allow using the wind from the sea for ventilation. If necessary, the air in the interior can be dehumidified: this lowers the temperature, and the water obtained in this way, after filtration, will become available to residents. Roof extensions protect interiors from the sun and support solar panels.
The modular system makes it easy to rebuild the complex or dismantle it in whole or in part. Utilities and insulation are already built into the modules. When planning your own apartment from "voxels", you can save money by dividing the branch of communications with neighbors. You can also choose built-in furniture - a wardrobe or a sofa “conversation area”.
