ASI Reisen is engaged in outdoor activities and hiking, offering hundreds of itineraries around the world. Such a vacation is always associated with nature, and the company itself is based outside the city, so the idea of a very "green" in every sense of its building was obvious.
The four-story building is built of wood - which is quite consistent with Tyrolean traditions, but it was fired according to the Japanese yakisugi method: as a result, it is not afraid of bad weather, humidity and parasites, no additional processing and painting is required. Only the foundation and the service core of the building are made of concrete.
The open plan of the offices is complemented by panoramic windows with views of the Alps, forests and meadows. Climbing plants are protected from the sun by glass facades: a metal grate is installed for them, including balconies for employees. 118 plants of 17 species are planted in large pots, some of which are deciduous, some are evergreen. Thanks to such a mixed set, the appearance of the building will change depending on the season, and the fallen leaves of part of the plantings in the cold season will make the vegetation curtain less frequent and allow the sun to more easily penetrate the interior - which will come in handy in winter.
In addition to the greenery on the façade, Snøhetta has been landscaping with 73 native species of flora that will also enhance biodiversity on the company's campus.
The interior for 65 employees provides not only workplaces, but also spaces for relaxation, teamwork and communication, including a bunk lobby. Many of them are delimited by shelving with indoor plants, continuing the "outer" theme of vertical gardening.
The eco-concept of the project was tested using dynamic simulation of the building's temperature regime. A 40 kilowatt air / water heat pump with heat transfer capability provides heating and cooling for the interior. Sensors for temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide level, wind force are widely used, which control natural ventilation - how wide the valves are open. Solar panels are installed on the roof.
