The Thermae Bath Spa is located adjacent to two historic Baths, the only hot springs resort in the British Isles. Historical monuments of the 18th century "Hot Baths" and "Baths Cross" are now part of the new complex. Thus, now you can go to Bath again for treatment on the water - after a break of several decades. Due to technical and sanitary problems, up to a million liters of mineral water with a temperature of 46 ° C per day have been lost at the famous British resort so far. Now the authorities have decided to rectify the situation and increase the flow of tourists to the city: not only with the help of sources, but also with the help of modern architecture.
The main volume of the building of the baths and spa center is a cube and a rotunda (inside it is a staircase) made of golden Bath stone. Their volumes are cut by small round "loopholes", and their lower part is covered with bluish glass. Inside there is a changing room, massage rooms and a steam room. There is an outdoor pool with hot water on the roof; from there you can enjoy views of Bath and the surrounding area. The main pool is located on the semi-basement floor. In this room you can see four huge mushroom-shaped pillars that support the bulk of the cube of the baths. The rooms for medical procedures are located in the historic building of the "Hot Baths" from 1775.
The complex cost local authorities 45 million pounds and opened only now, instead of 2002 and the amount of only 12.2 million. Due to the negligence of the developers, the building had to be repaired and rebuilt several times during the main construction process. As a result, although the city's fathers hope for the "Bilbao effect" from the new baths, which will bring significant revenues to Batu, while it comes to paying forfeits and even litigation.
