This year, the organizer of Arkhip, the publishing house "Salon-press", decided to catch all possible rabbits: he organized an exposition of "luxurious" interiors and furniture within the framework of the international exhibition "Furniture" in the Expo Center, and added contests and master classes to it - what, it should be noted, favorably distinguished this luxury salon from many others. On November 14, three prizes were awarded at once: the traditional Arkhip, no less traditional competition among students of architectural specialties "Home for a Star" and a completely new competition for industrial design or design of things "Russian Design".

Arkhip is being held for the seventh time, but this year all works will be divided into the categories "tradition" and "innovation", and in addition, the competition has been declared international - so now our architects and designers had to compete not only among themselves, but also with Western colleagues - which was especially felt in the section of innovative projects, where foreigners set a good, but for many so far unattainable tone. As if hinting at the results of the competition, at the press conference preceding the awarding ceremony, the jury members said that our architects would most likely be pushed aside by foreigners due to the developed design culture abroad and in general the jury this year was not satisfied with the quality of the submitted projects, which more resemble decoration. not the desired work with space.

Casa Tolo in Lugar das Carvalinhas of Portuguese architect Alvaro Lite Siza Vieira, son of the famous architect Alvaro Siza, won in the nomination "Individual dwelling house" in the category "Innovation". The award-winning representative of the Portuguese Embassy read out a letter from the architect, in which he talks about the concept of the project and from which it follows that "the house is a staircase, … located over a cliff and resting on the ground, as if looking for a support that could not be found." In other words, inscribing the building into the slope of the mountain, the architect in every way wanted to emphasize that it is still impossible to do this in a truly harmonious way and the building will always be alienated from nature.

In the category "Tradition" the best individual house was named the house in the Moscow region of Nina Prudnikova, Pavel Burmakin and Pyotr Yushin. The restrained architecture of the house combines traditional forms and materials with a certain degree of burgher austerity, especially noticeable in the interiors. In general, this project can be described as the embodiment of moderation, inspired by something like a Dutch city of the 17th century.

Among the innovative interiors, the first was the Penthouse House Ray 1 in Vienna by Elke Delugan-Maisl and Roman Delugan of the Austrian group Delugan Meissl associated architects. The space of this apartment is formed by the rigidly curved shapes of walls and furniture, and as a whole resembles a quarry.

The best traditional interior of the apartment was also not devoid of a modern trend, the interior of the St. Petersburg apartment, decorated by Mikhail Solovyov-Petko and Olga Motina. The "frame" of the apartment is exposed brickwork; the plain plaster of the walls is here and there accented with powerful castings and small columns in the aisles. According to the jury, this work is distinguished by a good combination of materials and creativity.

The restaurant by architect Pierluigi Piu was named the best innovative public interior. It is located underground, but does not seem to be a dark underground, but on the contrary, as if it emits light. Since the main centers of attraction for visitors - windows - are not here, the whole emphasis is on the walls, which are different in each of the halls. One of them consists of protruding "ribs" of sand dunes.

In the Tradition category, no award was given for the public interior design.

In addition to the three nominations of "Arkhip", another additional prize is presented by the Public Jury. The award was presented by the representative of Troika-Dialogue Pavel Teplukhin and Elena Kataeva from the Kultura TV channel. They explained the choice of the jury in the following way: … you cannot hang every picture on the wall at home and you cannot live in every masterpiece - therefore, when choosing the jury, it was primarily based on the consumer's position. The laureate was the Villa Liberty of architects Dmitry Velichkin, Nikolay Golovanov and Vyacheslav Vinogradov, who, having learned that this year the Public Jury consisted not of cultural figures, but of customers, were very happy about such a “real assessment”.

In the student competition "Home for a Star", the first place was taken by the dwelling house for Mila Jovovich, Svetlana Vasilyeva and Alexander Leonov. The second and third places were taken by houses for Salvador Dali (Anton Ladygin and Alexei Kurkov, and Margarita Gareeva, respectively), which caused laughter in the audience, since Dali was the only one among all the stars who might need a house least of all. According to the results of the competition, it turned out that the students of the Moscow Architectural Institute this year for the first time took prizes in this competition, and besides, the first two at once.

Then the results of the new competition "Russian Design" were summed up, which, on the one hand, is intended to address the underdeveloped theme of design in our country, and not just the interior. On the other hand, he should at least somehow outline the line of domestic design, which so far only "copies foreign experience, and not only in terms of the design itself, but also in promotion technologies." Speaking at the award ceremony, the chairman of the jury noted that the submitted works are all rather crude and difficult to present them in action: “3D models worked ten years ago, now we need to show not a drawing, but the thing itself, which will work in reality”. Of all 34 works selected for the final, the winners, according to the jury, were immediately visible and the main criterion in the selection was the idea.

The first place was taken by the partition of the student of the Academy of Arts and Industry - Karina Yeganyan. The second place was given to the project "Rocking chairs for two" by the architect from Art-Play Lika Monastyrskaya. The third place went to the student of Stroganovka A. Yu. Betonyanu (project "Chairs").
