UAE government-owned construction corporation Nakheel, one of the Middle East's largest real estate developers, plans to build a skyscraper in Dubai, tentatively titled Al Burj, to set a new world height record. Work has already begun on laying the foundation of the building, but the project will not be presented to the public until the middle of this year. The exact dimensions of the future tower and the date of its completion are also kept secret.
But it is already known that the uppermost residential floor (offices, apartments and several hotels are planned in Al-Burj) will be located at an altitude of 850 m, and several more technical floors and open tiers for equipment, as well as a spire will be erected above it. - with a total height of about 200 m. The useful area of the building will be about 500 thousand square meters. m (with a total area of 1.5 million square meters).
At the same time, the current "record holder", the Burj Dubai tower, located just a few kilometers from the construction site of Al Burj, reached a height of 605 meters. The developer, Emaar Properties, also did not report on its final dimensions. but the skyscraper is expected to be about 900 meters high when completed at the end of 2008. By then, it will be the tallest structure in the world in all four categories allocated by the international Council for High-Rise and Urban Housing (CTBUH): spire height, roof height, antenna height, non-technical top floor height. The $ 20 billion building will open several hotels, including the world's first Armani Hotel, as well as apartments and shops.
