The best was the JDS version by Julien De Smedt, developed in cooperation with the Klar workshop. It will form part of the wider development program for the Metropolssonen city center, which includes the regeneration of the area between Kalvebod Bruges and Lake St. Jørgens; on this territory are the town hall and the city station. In order not to come into conflict with the dense development of the coastal area, architects JDS and Klar proposed to bring the public space of the renovated embankment to the water, in the form of zigzag "promenades" with artificially created hilly relief.
But this good news for Julien De Smedt coincided with reports of the suspension (and possibly termination) of construction on his project of a huge hotel complex in Las Vegas. There, within the framework of the new development of the Echelon Center, the Delano and Mondrian hotels were to be built. De Smedt tried to deviate as much as possible from the principles of eclecticism and copying, familiar to Las Vegas: the hotel buildings of the JDS project, resembling mountain peaks, surrounded a "valley" with greenery and swimming pools.
