This airport is one of the busiest in the United States, which says a lot: air transport there is the main one for long-distance travel in the country. At the same time, the electric train does not go there from the center of Denver - the usual means of delivering passengers to most major airports in the world. The airport management decided to fill this gap during the reconstruction of the South Terminal (the Jeppesen terminal, which opened simultaneously with the airport in the early 1990s). Close to its building, according to Calatrava's plan, a railway station, a "plaza" with shops and infrastructure facilities, as well as a hotel with a conference center (for which Jensler is also responsible for the project) will be erected. The commercial elements of the plan are intended to fund the construction of the station, as well as - although it is not yet clear if the funds will remain for it - the graceful railway bridge nearby.
The Jeppesen terminal is covered with a multi-part tent roof, which is the symbol of the airport. In order not to disrupt its appearance, Calatrava plans to put the transparent floors of the station under it, and so that the roof is clearly visible to passengers arriving by train, it is planned to make the volume of the hotel saddle-shaped, not rectangular.
If the plan is approved soon, the station will open to passengers in 2016.
