The bridges of Pointe Cascara connect the two parts of the future public space being created by West 8 on the still neglected river banks and above the tunnels of the M30 ring road, the inner ring road of the Spanish capital, which connects its central districts. During the 2000s, a significant part of this route was placed underground, while free areas appeared in the city, which it became possible to turn into full-fledged recreational zones.

Above the M30 tunnels, West 8 architects designed a new esplanade, a pines salon of 8,000 trees, a series of parterres and Arganzuela Park. To connect the "salon" and the park, which will be completed in 2011, two Puente Cascara pedestrian bridges have been thrown across the Manzanares River flowing between them. Each of them is an elongated concrete vault, to which a light steel surface is suspended on thin cables - the bridge itself: the authors of the project compare the overall effect with a whalebone. The balustrade consists of complex profile aluminum supports. The inner surface of the vaults is covered with mosaics by the Spanish artist Daniel Canogar, and along their edges there are lamps that illuminate not only the images, but also - with reflected light - the bridge itself.
