The facility will serve the Saint Laurent area, which was once an independent city and located far from the center of Montreal. A significant part of the district is occupied by one-story residential buildings, so the quality of the infrastructure is very important - especially from the point of view of the family, the leaders of the municipality emphasize.
The need for a new sports complex was obvious: there were not enough such facilities in the region. The advantage of the building will be its convenient location, which ensures its accessibility to the majority of the population of Saint Laurent.
An indoor soccer field, a 25-meter swimming pool, a gymnasium, a fitness room and other facilities, including a multifunctional space, will be located on a total area of 14.5 thousand m2. In accordance with the requirements set by the Montreal authorities for all municipal buildings, the new complex will meet the LEED gold certification for energy efficiency.
It should be noted that the architectural competition for the design of a relatively modest structure was carried out thanks to the Building Montréal UNESCO City of Design program, which promotes design quality in all areas of life and is funded by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and other government agencies.
