The complexity of the task lies in the fact that the theater also serves as the entrance pavilion of the local zoo, which is currently being reconstructed. A new "zoo" with an area of 10 hectares will open simultaneously with the construction of Larsen - in 2015.
The building contains two auditoriums for a total of 1,150 spectators, an additional stage, exhibition spaces and a conference center. The roof with a large overhang covers the spacious "plaza" - the border zone between the city and the zoo.
The roof itself, with a curved outline resembling the back of an animal, has been landscaped and turned into a public space. This solution also allows you to collect and filter rainwater.
The building plan is adapted for various transformations: the outer walls can be moved apart, turning this or that room into an open-air theater. The total area of the building is 16,000 m2.
