At the heart of the Omotesando Street boutique concept built into the lower end of the office building is the Coach hardware system already tested at New York's Macy's department store last year. But now we are talking about a full-fledged store, where a 180 cm x 52 cm glass display module developed by OMA was used to create a facade.
Herringbone blocks are delimited outside by frosted glass lamellas. Inside, they will house dressed-up mannequins and individual goods: Coach deals with leather goods and various accessories, so it will be outerwear, bags, shoes, wallets, etc.
The two-storey facade plays the role of a showcase, and its "exhibits" are perfectly visible from the outside and from the inside. The functionality of the outer walls of the store sets it apart from other boutiques in Omotesando, where the emphatically "decorative" facades from famous architects give little idea of what is on sale inside.
Also, a tower in the center of the store consists of blocks with goods, in which a staircase connecting two floors is hidden. The arrangement of showcases on the facade and in the circulation zone frees up a significant part of the store's area for greater convenience of sellers and buyers.
