As part of the implementation of the global strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, defined by the Kyoto Agreement, Saint-Gobain in 2005 established an international student competition “Designing an ISOVER Multi-Comfort Home”. Its goal is to form an environmentally responsible mindset among future architects and representatives of the construction industry, as well as to involve them in solving important architectural and design problems: creating projects focused on saving energy resources and ensuring maximum comfort for residents. Every year the international expert council develops unique competition tasks. In 2014, it is to create an energy efficient school project for 400 - 600 students for the Turkish city of Gaziantep. 300 students from Russian architectural and construction universities applied to participate in this competition. Such high popularity is explained by the unique opportunity to try your hand at work on a socially significant project using innovative materials within the framework of the “Multi-Comfort Home” concept. An important factor is the likelihood of practical implementation of the project: student work, which took 1st place at the international final, which will take place on May 28 - 31, 2014 in Bucharest (Romania), will form the basis of a real project. In 2014, Nizhny Novgorod became the first Russian city to host the semi-final of the international student competition. Its participants gathered at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering to find out the names of the authors of the best works. Based on the results of the jury's assessment in terms of disclosing the functional concept, economic, environmental and social aspects, 1st place was taken by Alexander Glek (NGASU), 2nd place - Arseny Tikhomirov (NGASU). Professional jury, which included Tumanin Sergey Lvovich, member of the Presidium of the Board of the Union of Architects of Russia; Dmitry Vikulov, project manager for the village of energy efficient houses; Stanislav Piletsky, chief engineer of the project of the village of energy efficient houses; Kirill Paramonov, specialist in energy efficiency in construction, ISOVER, and Andrey Dumin, technical consultant, ISOVER, assessed each project in terms of revealing its functional concept, economic, environmental and social aspects. Commenting on the results of the Nizhny Novgorod semi-final of the competition "Designing the ISOVER Multi-Comfort House", jury member Andrey Dumin, ISOVER technical consultant, noted: solving design and construction problems, understanding the need to save energy, natural resources, and reduce the burden on the environment. This is very important, because the appearance of Russian cities tomorrow depends to a large extent on today's participants in the competition. " The author of the winning project thanked Saint-Gobain for the opportunity to try his hand at creating a real project, the invaluable experience gained and a good launching pad for the implementation of his creative ideas. In 2014, students from 24 countries are taking part in the competition. In Russia, in order to maximize territorial coverage and fair evaluation of projects, the competition is held in several stages. During February and March 2014, students from 19 cities will compete for the championship in the semifinals of the national stage of the competition, which will also be held in Kazan, Samara, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Yakutsk, Vladivostok, Tomsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Moscow and online with Nizhnevartovsk, Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk and Penza. In April 2014, the authors of the best projects will present their work at the national final in Moscow.
