International Center for Wildlife Africa. Photo: www.arquideas.net/competition/international-wildlife-center Kruger National Park is the oldest and largest nature reserve in South Africa, with an area of about 18,989 square kilometers. The reserve has an incredible variety of plants and animals, in particular, the so-called "Big Five": African elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo. Unfortunately, some of these animal species are on the brink of extinction.

There is no doubt that tourism revenues are a great way to support the reserve in the desire and attempt to preserve the animals, whose numbers have declined significantly in recent years. The goal of this competition will be to create an International Wildlife Center for tourists, volunteers, professionals and scientists who want to contribute to the protection of animals and their natural habitats.

Battikuore bookshelf by Mabele. Designed by Giorgio Giorgis. Illustration: www.mabele.it Mabele is an Italian company that manufactures laser cut metal design and furniture items. The company is still quite young - it was founded in 2009 - so it is not at all surprising that its goal is to move away from stereotypes and canons in design. In addition, Mabele strives to collaborate with young designers and architects to unleash their creativity.

The contestants are faced with the task of developing a design for a bookshelf that could serve as an independent art object. In this case, the direct function of storing books must be "masked" as much as possible. And of course, the shelf must be made of metal using laser cutting technology.
