Residential complex "Symbol" on Zolotorozhsky Val, an ambitious project for the development of the territory of the former plant "Hammer and Sickle" in Moscow, became the winner of the competition "Best construction site of the year", organized by the Moscow State Construction Supervision Agency. In total, 18 objects participated in the competition, all of which are under construction of the aboveground part. The fire control service played a certain role in making the final assessment.

The concept of the complex was developed by the English team LDA Design, the design code was detailed by the UHA London bureau. Individual quarters are designed by Russian workshops, including ATRIUM, MOSPROEKT-1, UNK project, WALL and ABTB. The site is crossed by the “green river” of a 2 km long boulevard, on the “bank” of which there are houses and public buildings with an expressive curvilinear silhouette.

To improve fire safety, several types of ROCKWOOL materials made of non-combustible stone wool are used in the buildings of the Zimbaz residential complex.

Thermal insulation of air ducts and technological equipment inside buildings is provided by slabs based on TEK BATTS 125 basalt rocks.

The ALU1 WIRED MAT 105 system with a galvanized wire mesh hidden under unreinforced aluminum foil is responsible for the fire resistance of transit ducts and smoke exhaust systems. When ignited, the plates can withstand temperatures up to 650 degrees. A material with a thickness of 25 mm will hold back fire and maintain operational characteristics for about 60 minutes, with a thickness of 70 mm - up to 240 minutes.

The facades are insulated using several types of plates, the fibers of which can withstand temperatures above 1000 degrees Celsius and create a reliable barrier that prevents fire from spreading. It:

• FACADE BATTS EXTRA - rigid and dense heat-insulating plates on a synthetic binder, resistant to deformation.

• KAVITI BATTS - lightweight thermal insulation boards, which are usually used as the middle thermal insulation layer.

• VENTI BATTS and VENTI BATTS N in hinged facade systems.

ROCKWOOL products are used not only for insulation and fire protection. The range of the company includes decorative panels for facades, acoustic suspended ceilings, soundproof barriers to protect against road noise, anti-vibration panels for railways, artificial soil for growing vegetables and flowers. In addition, ROCKWOOL consultants are helping to improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
