Petersburg tower "Lakhta Center", the tallest skyscraper in Russia and Europe, at the end of 2019 entered the five largest "green" buildings on the planet. Thanks to the use of innovative technologies for environmentally friendly construction, the complex manages to save up to 40% of energy resources. Insulation of facade and roof structures with high thermal insulation properties is included in the list of such technologies. During the construction, solutions were used from ROCKWOOL non-combustible stone wool, made on the basis of natural stone.
Lakhta Center, a public and business complex in the historical part of the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg, is the tallest building in Russia and Europe. The height of the skyscraper is 462 meters with 87 floors, while the spire of metal structures is 117 meters. The total area of the building is 400,000 sq. M. The original shape of the tower symbolizes the energy of water, lightness and openness.
The ultra-modern complex forms new standards for the quality of life: developed social infrastructure, pedestrian and transport accessibility, many green areas and eco-friendly offices. At the end of 2019, the Lakhta Center tower was included in the five largest "green" buildings in the world that reached the maximum Platinum level in the main international LEED environmental certification system. It is difficult to achieve such a high environmental rating for a building of this size, but Lakhta Center managed to combine both scale and environmental friendliness.
To ensure the maximum level of comfort, safety and energy efficiency, Rockwool stone wool solutions were used during the construction of the complex. For the insulation of facade systems with a ventilated gap, VENTI series slabs were chosen, including VENTI BATTS D, created using a special double density technology. This technology makes it possible to lay thermal insulation in one layer, which is much more convenient and faster in installation compared to a two-layer solution, moreover, their installation requires fewer fasteners and consumables.
To insulate the plaster facades of the Lakhta Center buildings, FACADE BATTS EXTRA and FACADE BATTS OPTIMA were used. The materials are resistant to deformation, provide high-quality thermal insulation and are a reliable base for applying a thin plaster layer. Rigid facade slabs have high strength characteristics during the entire service life - at least 50 years, subject to the rules of competent installation of insulation. The roofs of the complex objects are also insulated with ROCKWOOL materials, mounted in two layers: from below, lightweight RUF BATTS N OPTIMA slabs, and from above - rigid RUF BATTS V EXTRA, characterized by high resistance to mechanical stress, the ability to maintain properties in a wide temperature range and a long service life. Stone wool fibers are able to withstand temperatures up to 1000 ° C, acting as a reliable barrier to the spread of fire and increasing the fire safety of the facility. material provided by ROCKWOOL Russia
