49th Central Glass International Architecture Competition

The theme of the 49th Central Glass Contest is the City's Favorite Symbol.

The city must be attractive. And the attractiveness of the city is primarily determined by its architecture. Previously, the most significant buildings were the cathedral, town hall, palace or central square, which became symbols of the city.

Modern architecture is more rational and functional than symbolic. However, the townspeople still need architectural symbols. But not symbols of wealth or the authoritarian power of government, but very soulful and truly beloved buildings. These can be public buildings or private houses, their size does not matter, what is really important is the ability of a symbol building to convey the cultural wealth and traditions of the people.

Faith and Knowledge is a Place for Believers of All Denominations in London

Competitive design site. Illustration: www.combocompetitions.com

Competitive design site. Illustration: www.combocompetitions.com Faith is a powerful force. It can give hope, confidence, security, besides, it is also a huge source of knowledge. However, as history shows, religion can also be a source of conflict. In an ideal world, people respect each other's choice of religion, although, on the other hand, understanding the need to learn tolerance is not the most important “knowledge” of a person?

The competition combines two concepts: religion and knowledge. The idea is to create a place where one could pray or think, and a place where people of different faiths could gather, share their knowledge and experience.

Contestants can choose any religion for their project (it can also be a structure for atheists).
