Opus, which is planned to be brought under the roof this fall, was originally planned as an office building, but over time it was decided to place ME Dubai hotel rooms and apartments on its upper floors (there are 23 in total). Their interiors, as well as an atrium with a lobby, a reception area, a vertical café and lounges, were designed by Zaha Hadid's bureau.
In total, the hotel will have 100 rooms, including four penthouses, as well as the signature Suite ME. ME Dubai is due to open in 2016.
The Opus complex was rendered by Hadid as a volume with a huge "void" inside, equipped with a media facade. In fact, these are two streamlined towers connected at the top and bottom. The hotel and apartments will be located upstairs, while the lower 5 floors will be occupied by shops and restaurants. The complex is being built in one of the most prestigious areas of Dubai - near the record-breaking Burj Khalifa.
