Aarhus is experiencing a shortage of affordable housing due to the constant influx of students to the local university. The new project aims to eliminate this shortage: the 31-storey tower will have 300 inexpensive apartments, most of which are 3-room, and each of the bedrooms is designed for two people.
The 95-meter La Tour (the name is taken from the hotel that is now in its place) is located at the highest point of the city, 80-90 m above sea level, and therefore panoramic views will open from its windows (as well as from the balconies with which each apartment is equipped) Aarhus, sea and surroundings.
The height of the building increases in steps from the level of the street, built up with low buildings, so the tower will not greatly disturb its current appearance. This decision is also dictated by the proximity to the historic water tower: La Tour echoes its curvature with its rounded shape.
