Zaha Hadid's bureau is developing a project for a new residential complex, Casa Atlântica, on Copacabana Beach, on Avenida Atlantika. Construction of the building, which will include 30 serviced apartments at the 6-star hotel level, spa, cinema and rooftop pool, is set to begin this year.
So far, only renders of the future building have been published: sandwiched in a narrow section between the existing buildings, it opens towards the sea with fluid curves of balconies. Their symmetrical arrangement of the relative central axis, large cantilevers and white color give the façade a bionic skeletal shape.
The architects themselves explain that the exterior synthesizes the Brazilian modernist tradition of free form formation, the hectic pace of life of the Copacabana beach and the bends of the pavement of the famous promenade created by Roberto Burle-Marx.
Developers are confident that the new building of Zaha Hadid is in alliance with the neighboring one
With the Diller Sound and Image Museum, Scofidio + Renfro will give the city a “new aesthetics of dynamism and energy”.
