On August 20, Moscow announced the results of the competition for the architectural concept of the 4-star Radisson Blu Moscow Riverside Hotel & SPA, the construction of which is planned at the confluence of the Moscow and Skhodnya rivers. The task of the participants was not only to create a functional and comfortable building for the guests, but also to ensure its harmony with the natural environment. The jury had a choice of 36 works. As a result, according to the totality of criteria, three projects reached the final, which were awarded prizes, although all three projects will still be finalized according to the requirements of the hotel operator.
We present the projects of the three finalists of the competition.
First place
PPF A. Len (St. Petersburg)
The ensemble of the hotel complex consists of two buildings located along the axes perpendicular to the Volokolamskoe highway and the Skhodnya river. The architects placed the buildings in such a way in relation to each other that all the rooms offer a view of the water area of the Moskva and Skhodnya rivers. A lower-rise building, a block of long-term accommodation for guests, is located closer to the embankment, in a quiet and peaceful area. The second building, intended for short-term residence, is directly connected to the business area. A courtyard is formed in the stylobate part between the buildings. The location of the main infrastructure facilities took into account the need for unhindered access to them for people with disabilities. The project offers effective engineering and design solutions, and also demonstrates the desire for maximum environmental friendliness.
Second place
Arch group (Moscow)
The hotel building in this project takes the curvilinear shape of the coastline, thanks to which it becomes a continuation of the natural landscape. The location of the building as close to the water as possible provides picturesque views from the rooms. The entrance to the building is from the courtyard. In order to open a panorama of the surroundings to visitors at the entrance, a through glazed arched opening is designed at the level of the first and second floors. The emphasis in this concept is on the expressive silhouette of the building, the play of light, shadow and reflections. In addition to the main building, the complex includes a business center located in the courtyard and made in the form of an artificial green hill.
Third place
Structural safety (Chelyabinsk)
The low-rise and elongated main building of the hotel is commensurate in size with the surrounding buildings and the landscape of the coastal area. The complex is formed by two volumes: the main building and the "green" stylobate part, where it is proposed to arrange an artificial reservoir. A terrace has been created along the eastern side of the building, from which guests of the hotel can go for a walk along the Moskva and Skhodnya rivers. In the undeveloped area, the architects envisage the construction of nine detached villas in the future.
