On December 23, the Red Hall of the Moscow Architectural Institute hosted an award ceremony for the laureates of the "Architectural Image of Russia" competition. The competition was held for the fourth time and, as in previous years, included several nominations. This time it was “Image of Russia”, “Modern architectural solutions for social infrastructure facilities using dry construction systems”, “Development of the Kuril tourism infrastructure” and “Residential building for the Arctic”. The winners of the All-Russian competition in 2015 were honored for the first time in Moscow. Since the "host" of the holiday was the Moscow Architectural Institute, along with the members of the jury and the expert council, the prize was presented by its vice-rector Alexei Afanasyev. Also among the speakers was a member of the jury and chairman of the Federal Organizing Committee of the competition, President of the CAP Andrei Bokov.
Architects, designers, designers from 18 to 35 years old from Russia and the CIS countries could participate in the competition. The organizer of the architectural competition is the World of Youth Interregional Public Foundation.
Since the German company KNAUF was the partner of the competition, the main prize for the winners was an internship trip to Germany. The representative of the KNAUF technical department in his speech noted that for him, as a builder, projects of young architects are divided into two groups: those that he already imagines how to implement, and those that amaze the imagination and seem absolutely fantastic. Both those and other works seem very interesting to him.
Even the most fantastic sections of the competition were taken seriously by the participants. Thus, all projects-winners in the category "Residential Building of the Arctic" were created for specific places, taking into account the characteristics of the environment.
By the decision of the jury, certain prizes were missing in some nominations. For example, in the section "Development of the Kuril Tourism Infrastructure" only one project was awarded the prize.

"Image of Russia"
This is a free nomination in which participants were asked to design a building or architectural object that would reflect the identity of our country and the place of the proposed implementation. A prerequisite was the use of green building technologies.

"House overlooking the sky" / Evgeny Shirchkov (Saransk)
The house is proposed to be built in the village of Krasnaya Gorka, Pinezhsky District, Arkhangelsk Region. This project is an attempt to create a modern look for a traditional northern home. The building is located on the top of a hill with a picturesque view of the Pinega River. The main feature of the planning solution is a bedroom with an overhead light. It is located in the center of the house and has no windows, except for the opening in the ceilings. This technique allows not only to create an original interior, but also to give residents the opportunity to look at the surrounding space in a new way.

The architectural concept of the sports complex / Natalia Sultanova (St. Petersburg)
The multifunctional sports complex was designed for the Ural foothills. On the territory of Krutoy Log in the town of Serov, Sverdlovsk region, the ski lodge "Lokomotiv" is now located, but the existing building of the base was built more than 40 years ago and requires renovation. The author proposes to build a modern sports complex here with an exploited green roof. It will be possible to visit it both in winter and in summer: for skiing and ice skating, cycling and other active activities.

United passenger terminal in Veliky Novgorod / Alina Malysheva (Veliky Novgorod)
The passenger terminal in this project serves as a railway and bus station, as well as an excursion cable car. The idea is that the passenger can orient himself on the spot, which transport is more convenient for him to use, immediately purchase a ticket and go on a trip from here. In addition, there are offices, a hotel and other facilities that provide maximum comfort for residents and guests of the city. Since Veliky Novgorod is one of the most ancient Russian cities, the architectural design of the terminal is dictated by the desire to reflect the rich history of this place in modern architecture and using modern materials.
"Development of the tourist infrastructure of the Kuriles"
In this nomination, the contestants had to submit projects that would contribute to the popularization of ecotourism in the Kuril Islands. The jury awarded only the first place in this category, however, the works of some participants were awarded honorable mentions.

Reconstruction of the "Spanberg Mayak" complex into a recreation center / Dmitry Romanov (Volgograd)
"Spanberg Lighthouse" was built by the Japanese on the island. Shikotan during World War II in 1943. Since the complex is still in good condition, it is possible, in the author's opinion, to preserve and reconstruct all its objects and give them new functions. It is planned to organize residential, public, sports and utility spaces here. The design is based on the image of the fortress, which was not chosen by chance. The weather in this area is very changeable, so the complex should not only be spectacular in appearance, but also serve as reliable protection for tourists from the elements. The reconstruction is supposed to use local building materials - larch and bamboo.
"Residential building for the Arctic"
In this category, the participants presented to the jury projects of residential buildings for the extreme conditions of the Arctic. The contestants could develop both separate living modules intended for scientific expeditions and projects of apartment buildings.

"Northern Commune" / Evgeny Shirchkov (Saransk)
This work was based on the idea of a residential complex, modified to take into account the harsh climatic conditions of the Arctic. Severnaya Kommuna is a multi-apartment development project with a modular structure, which is formed by residential cells, utility and public spaces. Since the courtyards of houses, due to the harsh climate, function only a small part of the year, their "back-ups" are created on the last floors of the buildings. Storage rooms and garages are also provided for all residents. The advantage of the project is that the sections can be assembled into structures of various sizes and complexity.

Apartment building in the village of Dikson, Krasnoyarsk Territory / Maxim Vasiliev (Kurgan)
Every year, the study of the Arctic territories of Russia becomes more and more large-scale. Dixon is the northernmost settlement in the country, so it can serve as a base starting point for scientific expeditions. The author considers the development of the village to be relevant, since the construction of modern apartment buildings here will allow it not only to return the unofficial status of the “capital of the Arctic”, but also to provide the necessary housing for new residents involved in research activities.

Apartment building in Norilsk / Maria Nechaeva (Moscow)
Norilsk is one of the coldest cities in the world, where winters are not only snowy, but also very windy. The designed house will offer Norilsk residents a comfortable and warm space for life, sports and communication. The ground floor of the house is occupied by public areas (children's room, gym, library, laundry, storage rooms). The other three floors are residential. The indoor courtyard will become a space for year-round recreation for both children and adults, since the wind and precipitation are not terrible there.
"Objects of social infrastructure"
The sponsor of the special nomination "Modern architectural solutions for social infrastructure facilities using dry construction systems" was the KNAUF company. Accordingly, in projects it was necessary to use the products of this brand. The prize for the winners is a trip to Germany with a visit to objects built using Knauf materials.

Clinical Innovation Center MKDTS / Anna Budnikova, Leysan Khamidullina (Kazan)
In order to make the medical complex as functional as possible, the authors proposed the use of a frame system, which allows, if necessary, to re-equip the premises and change the layout. Two entrance groups and two courtyards conditionally divide the complex into zones of four elements: the southern entrance - fire (sunny side, active flows of visitors, procedures of electrophoresis, electrotherapy, etc.), the western courtyard - land (winter garden, view of the park), the northern entrance - water (pools, fountains, water procedures) and, finally, the eastern courtyard - air, since the space is "multi-colored". The façade changes color depending on the viewing angle and time of day thanks to the swivel façade panels.

Swimming pool in Penza / Anna Kostina (Penza)
The functional purpose of the building is projected onto its architecture - the appearance is formed by smooth wavy lines. The pool is for children and adults. It is possible to hold mass events and competitions here (the stands can accommodate up to 650 spectators). In addition, there is a gym, rooms for fitness, dancing, yoga.

Kindergarten near Moscow Horoshevo-Mnevniki / Polina Moskvina (Moscow)
The kindergarten is designed for 120 children of different ages. The center of the building is an amphitheater with a double-height atrium, where parties and concerts will be held. The rest of the time, the amphitheater can be used as a communication space. Above it is a large playroom. The shape and glazing of the building allows maximum natural light to be used.
