SOM's Beijing Greenland Center is located in the Davanjing business district, halfway between the center of the Chinese capital and the airport.
The height of the 55-storey skyscraper is 260 meters, it is the third tallest building in Beijing. The façade is designed as a relief "interlacing" of glass panels, which has a double function. Firstly, it creates "self-shadowing", protecting the interior from the sun's rays and thus reducing the energy consumption for air conditioning, and secondly, it reflects the sun's rays along the street, increasing its illumination, which is important for a city whose sky is constantly covered with smog.
The tower is occupied by class A offices, and in its upper part there are 178 apartments. At the foot of the skyscraper there is a building with shops and restaurants.
Beijing Greenland Center operates on the so-called "green" technologies: it was equipped with a recuperative heat exchanger, a single integrated heating and cooling system for buildings, and a water economizer for evaporative cooling. It is assumed that due to the use of these systems, the building will consume resources 30% less than the established mark.
