The Zodchestvo winners' award ceremony took place on October 7, on the last day of the exhibition in Gostiny Dvor. The winners were selected based on the results of ten thematic contests and exhibitions. Also this year, the CAP established a competition "Regions of Russia", within the framework of which 15 regions of the country presented their expositions in Gostiny Dvor.
Daedalus
The main award of the festival - "Crystal Daedalus" - was received by the team from St. Petersburg "Ingmar ASB" for a sports and entertainment center and a yacht club in the Petrogradsky district of the northern capital on Bychiy island. The island is located opposite the Zenit Arena stadium, in the Neva delta with access to the Gulf of Finland, Grebnoy Canal and Srednaya Nevka. The place is picturesque and especially protected, therefore, the authors, in their own words, took the idea of preserving the natural landscape as the basis of the concept.
The complex consists of three main volumes. The core of the composition is a glass sports and entertainment center with a multifunctional concert and sports arena for 2000 spectators, training halls for wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics and a standard 25-meter swimming pool. From the east, the sports block is adjoined by a hotel complex consisting of ten cottages, united in blocks around an elongated courtyard. From the west, the composition is closed by the yacht club. The facades of all buildings are predominantly made of glass to provide a good view of the natural surroundings.
The geometry of the development follows the curved contours of the island territory, and its character takes into account the damp climate and constant wind loads. For this reason, the authors have provided for windscreens from the side of the Gulf of Finland, and also paid special attention to outdoor spaces. In front of the main entrance to the sports block, there is a square under a large glass canopy that protects visitors from precipitation. In the hotel part, each cottage also has its own covered area, where Japanese gardens are planted under a canopy.
The jury members highly appreciated the urban planning solution of the territory, the interaction of the new building with the Zenith Arena complex and the sensitive attitude of the project authors to the natural environment. President of the UAR Nikolay Shumakov, presenting the award to the author of the project Ingmar Vitvitsky, admitted that the jury was absolutely unanimous on the issue of choosing the winner of the Grand Prix this year.
Buildings: Gold
The Golden Badge of the Zodchestvo Festival in the Implementation section this year was awarded to two buildings: the Andersen residential complex by Vladimir Bindeman and the main academic building of Nikita Yavein's Graduate School of Management at St. Petersburg State University. More than 40 projects were nominated for the main award of the review competition.
LCD"
Andersen”was built on the banks of the Desna in the central part of New Moscow - but initially it was conceived as a suburban village. Therefore, all residential buildings - and there are eleven standard sections in total - are low-rise. On an area of more than 19 hectares, they form cozy quarters, separated by three narrow streets. Each quarter is endowed with individual features due to the use of various finishing materials for the facades. In addition to the high-quality architectural solution, the jury noted the level of improvement and the attentive attitude of the authors of the project to the creation of public spaces.
The jury members found the reconstruction of the former Mikhailovskaya dacha no less interesting, where the architects of Studio 44 made a modern academic building of the Higher School of Management out of the old stable. This work was awarded the gold mark for courage and attention to history at the same time.
Buildings: Silver
Silver awards in the "Buildings" section were awarded to five works at once. The Prospekt architectural bureau received a diploma for the project of the Tikhaya Roshcha residential complex in Ufa. The complex is built on Sorge street, next to a large green park. The designers organized a comfortable yard space with playgrounds and walking alleys for residents on the exploited roof of the stylobate, making the yard free of cars.
Another silver medal went to Metrogiprotrans, which has implemented a project to extend the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line of the Moscow metro to three stations: Petrovsko-Razumovskaya, Fonvizinskaya and Butyrskaya. The opening of new stations of the northern radius took place a year ago. And next year it is planned to commission a new section - to the Seligerskaya station.
The work of the Arch group company was awarded in the category "Object of Cultural and Social Significance". The small golf club with a gable roof and dark glass facades, built opposite the Mikhailovka estate near Peterhof, pleased the jury with its emphatically modern and minimalist architecture that does not try to compete with the historical environment.
In the section "Restoration and Reconstruction", the silver was awarded to the team of authors under the leadership of Valery Khidirov, who implemented a project for the comprehensive restoration of S. D. Tabolova and A. A. Bitarova in Khabarovsk. Receiving the award, the authors noted the importance of the project as an example of the preservation and high-quality restoration of a sample of Russian wooden architecture of the last century. Another silver medal went to the Trio project company, which implemented the concept of landscaping the territory of the Staro-Nikolskoye estate. ***
Tatlin
The Grand Prix in the "Projects" section was awarded to the concept of reconstruction of the fort "Severnaya Battery No. 7" in Kronstadt. The authors of the project, the St. Petersburg company Rieder, took part in the Zodchestvo festival for the first time and immediately received the main award. The jury members highly appreciated the integrity of the project and the program for the preservation of the complex of fortifications. Upon receiving the award, representatives of the Rieder design team noted: “This is a very difficult project for us. It has no building in the traditional sense, no facades, no territory. But this is the uniqueness of the place, which we have tried to preserve."
The Seventh Northern Fort was built in the water area of the Gulf of Finland near Kotlin Island in 1855 according to the design of the engineer Eduard Totleben. In Soviet times, it was no longer used as a fortification and a dam and a road were built across it. Now the old fort is planned to be restored to accommodate a cultural and leisure complex with its own pier for boats, a beach and a restaurant. The entire territory of the fort will be divided into themed recreation areas. The casemates are planned to be given for the location of the Museum of the History of Fortification
Designs: Gold and Silver
More than 70 works were reviewed within the framework of the competition in the "Projects" section. And among the winners of the highest awards were again architects from St. Petersburg. Studio 44 received both gold and silver. Gold - for the project of a residential complex on Tipanova Street, consisting of three separate buildings, referring to the traditions of the Leningrad architectural school. Two 23-storey portal buildings are facing Tipanova Street, the third building is hidden in the depths of the site. The volumes are interconnected by a system of ramps and passages. The team of Nikita Yavein received a silver diploma for the project of a residential microdistrict in Pushkin.
The concept for the development of the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Strelka, developed by the Archslon architectural bureau, received the gold award of the festival for the approach to organizing the planning structure of one of the most significant parts of Nizhny Novgorod. As a basis, the authors proposed to take the Makaryevskaya fair, which once existed on Strelka, with quarter buildings and trade pavilions. In addition to reconstructing the historical grid of buildings, the authors proposed to organize a wide boulevard, revive the lake, and improve the embankment and park.
The conceptual proposal of the Archstruktura team to create the Reactor atomic energy pavilion at VDNKh was also awarded the golden sign of the festival. The large-scale interactive pavilion, as conceived by the authors, should become a symbol of achievements in the nuclear industry. Based on the specifics of the industry, the designers abandoned the idea of capital construction in favor of creating a metaphysical object, a phantom from a cloud of electrons and crystal lattices. It is proposed to implement the idea with the help of media facades outside and an interactive atrium inside.
Silver in the "Projects" section was awarded to the IQ Studio architectural bureau for the design of the Znamensky genetic selection center in Orel, the DAproject team for the residential complex in Novy Urengoy, the Kaliningrad team "Another Architecture" for the Sportodruzhestvo sports and recreation complex and the bureau Architectural landing ", which presented the concept of development of the forest park" Lebyazhye ". ***
Reputation
The award named after Sergei Kiselev "Reputation" this year was awarded to the Nizhny Novgorod "Creative Workshop of Architect Nikishin V. V." and personally to its leader Valery Nikishin. The architect, known for such buildings as the administrative building of Nizhegorodnefteprodukt on Gruzinskaya Street, a residential building on Belinsky Street or the Alekseevsky Ryad shopping center on Minin Square in Nizhny Novgorod, was noted as a prominent representative of the Nizhny Novgorod architectural school, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of his cities. ***
Collectives
This year, only eight architectural firms presented their expositions in Gostiny Dvor. But, according to the jury, the choice of the winner and the owner of the gold mark was still difficult. The best among the "Creative architectural teams and workshops" was named the bureau of Sergei Skuratov. Silver diplomas were awarded to "Mezonproekt" by Ilya Mashkov and "A. Len" by Sergey Oreshkin. CAP diplomas were awarded to SPEECH and Ub. Design. ***
Regions of Russia
The new competition was attended by 15 regions of Russia, including Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, the Khabarovsk Territory, the Sakhalin and Nizhny Novgorod regions, the Krasnodar Territory, the Vologda, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Rostov, Tomsk and Belgorod regions, as well as Komi Republic. A professional jury evaluated the expositions presented in two sections and in six main nominations. I must say that in the end almost all the stands were awarded with diplomas.
In the section "Best architectural practices" gold was awarded to the KGA of St. Petersburg for the effective use of competitive practice in the formation of a high-quality environment, the Tomsk region and the regional organization of the CAP - for the best programs for the revival of wooden architecture, the Belgorod region for the historical and tourist complex "Prokhorovskoe Pole", the Rostov region for the linear park along the Temernik River, which, according to the jury, can be called an exemplary project - a positive example for other cities.
Another gold was awarded to the Chelyabinsk Region for the best practices in the formation of a territorial planning policy. Representatives of the region, receiving the diploma, noted that "urban planning documentation is the basis for the formation of a high-quality environment." The Moscow Region also received its gold award for the implementation of social programs. Alexandra Kuzmina took the stage to receive the diploma, who recalled how important it is to understand that the quality of the environment begins not with comfortable streets, but with the safety of spaces, the health of the population and the education of children.
There were also a lot of silver awards in this section. The list of awardees includes the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Tyumen region, the Republic of Tatarstan, which presented, perhaps, the most beautiful and original stand.
In the “Urban Environment” section, many regions have demonstrated serious urban planning work. Moreover, the chief architects personally came to defend their region. Several gold diplomas were awarded at once: Moskomarkhitektura, which presented its experience of transforming public spaces of the capital, Khabarovsk Territory - a permanent participant in all Zodchestvo festivals over the past 20 years - for an integrated approach to territorial development and the formation of the urban environment, Krasnodar Territory, which for obvious reasons missed several festivals after the preparation and holding of the Olympic Games in Sochi. The region was noted for the long-term consistent implementation of programs for the comprehensive improvement of public spaces, which the authorities have been implementing since 2002.
Silver in the "Urban Environment" section went to the Sakhalin Oblast, which for the first time in 10 years presented its exposition at the festival, as well as the Vologda Oblast for its respect for regional identity. A silver badge was awarded to representatives of the Volgograd region in the person of the chief architect of Volgograd Edvin Petrov. Volgograd presented a comprehensive urban planning project, including the improvement of the central embankment of the Volga River in the historical part of the city, a museum and a football stadium that was practically implemented in preparation for the World Cup-18. Receiving the award, Volgograd residents promised that next year they will focus not on the capital of the region, but on provincial cities, including the capital of the Russian province, Uryupinsk. ***
Sustainable architecture
The Arch-Resistant Ball award went to the project of the Atlas-Park shopping and entertainment center, which is supposed to be built in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. Initially, the project was developed by the UNK Project bureau, then it was transferred to other designers. Zodchestvo celebrated the work of the team of authors under the leadership of T. S. Dulova and E. Yu. Shcherbakov. The jury liked the ideas for the development of the recreational space around the complex, including the coastal area of the Bykovka River.
