In the assortment of Xerox wide-format materials there are other engineering papers, for example, XES and Architect: "Marathon" is practically not inferior to them in quality, but it costs an order of magnitude cheaper.
Quality impression is the main goal
Marathon paper is designed in such a way that the information important for the project in the print is conveyed accurately and accurately.
This line is available in rolls with a width from 0.297 to 0.914 m (from A3 to A0 +), suitable for laser systems and inkjet plotters (depending on the winding), can be used on equipment from both Xerox and other manufacturers (KIP, OCE, Ricoh, Seiko, Kyocera Mita). The inkjet line is suitable for color printing, but is only available in 0.610 and 0.914 m sizes and 42.5 m reels.
The high whiteness (164% CIE) and brightness (110%) make the printed sheet very contrasty. As a result, even the smallest characters and thin lines will be easy to read.
91% opacity allows text or images to be printed on both sides. The moisture index of Marathon paper is optimal for laser systems and is 4%, shrinkage is less than 0.5%. These characteristics ensure the paper is highly resistant to curling and discoloration of the print, and also prevents toner from shedding.
Another significant plus - "Marathon" does not leave paper dust, which over time accumulates in printing machines and leads to equipment malfunctions.
Price is an advantage
"Marathon" is produced in Portugal, but it costs much less than analogs from other manufacturers. For example, the difference in price with Albeo Premium or MEGA Engineer Bright White is from 5% to 35% in favor of Marathon.
Thus, the affordable price, coupled with the high performance of the new paper, makes the new Xerox offering the optimal solution for customers with budgetary constraints but high quality requirements.
Paper in the ArchiCAD Age
Is paper so important in an architectural workshop when there is BIM design, digital signatures and cloud storage?
Xerox believes the answer is yes, as paper documents have several advantages over electronic ones. It is easier to make edits in the process of finalizing the project on paper. It is more convenient to show large drawings in printed form than in fragments on a computer screen. The signed paper document is considered authentic; electronic documents, of course, are also gradually gaining weight, but not yet everywhere. Technical documentation in material form is also important after the implementation of the project: it is used during the operation of structures and when approving new projects. And finally, the folder with papers, in all likelihood, is stored longer than digital files. Xerox paper archives will last at least two hundred years, and besides, they will not require special equipment to read them.
It is important to note that Xerox's paper stock is sourced from regenerated forests, and since 2006, the company has partnered with the US Natural Resources Conservation Committee to promote forest conservation and sustainability.
