The aim of the competition announced in October was to compile a catalog of houses that will form the architectural appearance of Dobrograd in the manor part of the city, where more than 100 individual construction sites are located. More information about the city can be found here.
The competition, curated by the architect Ilya Mukosey, collected more than 140 applications from 27 cities in Russia and the CIS countries. In the final, 16 projects were considered. As planned, five winners were chosen at once. They are AMD Architects (St. Petersburg), DK architects (Yaroslavl), SPAM architectural bureau (Moscow), Kerimov Architects (Moscow) and LogWorks (Tomsk).
The jury did not seek to select similar projects. On the contrary, they turned out to be very different, but they will be able to meet the tastes of the townspeople of different generations. All projects are united by colors and natural materials - this was regulated by the competition task. However, there is also room for creative interpretation. One house is a traditional country house, the other is a modern one with a "complex" roof. There are houses that are more spacious, there are houses that are more compact (from 150 to 250 m²). Two-story - and one-story, by Kerimov Architects. With an open or covered terrace, or without it at all. The predominance of wood in decoration and construction also did not make the projects the same. Some of the architects painted it in a radical black color, others came up with original ornaments or lattices.
Below are all five selected projects.
