The new building on the University of Johannesburg campus was designed by GAPP Architects and combines different geometric shapes in one building. The vision of the university authorities was to create a world-class facility - a unique building representing progress and development, reflecting the success of South African higher education.
Durability and quality are important factors when choosing materials for any facade. “Handcrafted” in the form of curved panels was a successful challenge for Rhode Roofing, as clearly seen in the details and meticulous metal-to-material connections.
The aesthetics of the patinated surface of titanium-zinc RHEINZINK-prePATINA blaugrau in combination with wood reflects the environmental sustainability and eco-balanced approach of the customer to the project, and the transition of the external facade into the interior is an interesting idea of the architects that the students liked.
