The multi-storey building Le Stella was built in the central area of Monaco - La Condamine: it was placed at a fork in two streets, and it seems to stand on a promontory - or on the bow of a ship, revealing the adjacent quarter.
Its most noticeable and spectacular part is the facade facing the city and the sea with balconies hidden behind fluttering "ribbons" covered, like all external surfaces of the building, with white mosaics. These "ribbons" protect the tenants and their apartments from the sun and the views of neighbors, while not blocking spectacular panoramas.
The basement of the building is open only from the side of the eastern street, which is flatter (the western one goes sharply upwards): it is completely glazed and faces a small square-terrace. Inside there is a kindergarten and premises of the International University of Monaco. Thanks to the transparent façade with a winter garden behind it, these spaces are provided with natural light and at the same time protected from outside views.
From the 4th to the 13th floors, there are 99 apartments: most of them are two-tier small-sized housing designed for young people. The corridors are open galleries that provide a sense of openness and “community”. They walk through the floor: on the third, fifth, and so on. Walking along them, residents and their guests rediscover the city from an unusual perspective.
Most of the apartments are 13 mx 3.7 m in size with a two-height common room height of 5.7 m; the bedroom is located on the mezzanine floor. Balcony-loggia - continuation of the apartment space.
