KERAMA MARAZZI and Surface Laboratory present an architectural innovation - personalized porcelain stoneware facades that are changing the face of the city. One of the recent projects where new facade solutions have been applied is the Filatov Lug residential complex on the territory of New Moscow.
In the design of the facades, a rare technique of "architectural painting" was used, paintings enlarged to the scale of a multi-storey building, one of the favorite techniques of Sergei Tchoban, who, in particular, some time ago adapted the painting by Katsushiko Hokusai "The Big Wave" for the facades of the Etalon City tower complex”, Where the wave, when viewed from a certain point of view, literally consists of a puzzle of fragments placed on individual houses. The idea of placing an enlarged, monumentalized piece of art on the façade of a large building was popular in 1970s modernist architecture; now Sergei Tchoban gives her a "new breath" in his works, using completely different images.
The enlarged paintings that adorn the facades of the Filatov Lug residential complex are watercolors by Sergei Tchoban himself and his co-author, the head of one of the SPICH workshops Alexei Ilyin, with views of the iconic sights of the historical cities of Europe, including the Berlin Red City Hall, Amsterdam from the central station, St. Anne's Square in Copenhagen. Watercolors were transferred to the surface of 18 thousand ceramic panels, the pattern on each of them is unique and will forever preserve the original colors, accurately conveying the color of each work.
With the help of ceramic panels, not only view, but also plain facades are decorated. Their colors were chosen by the authors of the project to be a worthy backdrop for watercolor paintings.

“The format of the personalized panels has been specially adapted to virtually eliminate clipping,” says Akhmet Kagirov, CEO of Surface Laboratory. - Each reproduction consists of several thousand fragments. They were mounted on an aluminum sub-system, exactly in the space reserved for them. During the installation, there was not a single replacement - all the panels were originally made exactly to size and without any complaints about quality."
It is important that the facade made of ceramic panels is not only aesthetic, but also much more reliable and durable compared to other facade solutions. Ceramic cladding does not fade in the sun, does not absorb moisture, is not affected by temperature and precipitation, which means it will delight the eye for a long time.
“Custom designed ceramic panels provide unique possibilities for facades and public interiors. Not only in Russia, but also in the world, Surface Laboratory by KERAMA MARAZZI is the only company that offers personalized finishing materials of this format and such reliability,”says Akhmet Kagirov. “These panels are definitely the best solution to make the project more visible. Our partners have already appreciated the obvious benefits of the new technology, which tomorrow will change the face of many new buildings."
