The 30-storey building has the shape of a slightly curved rectangular block typical of the architect's residential complexes. However, according to Libeskind himself, the Tel Aviv building is inspired by the architecture of the mid-20th century in the spirit of the Bauhaus, which is abundant in the city. The Oriya Tower will not be the only one in Israel: in Jerusalem, the same developer, American Colony, plans to build a second house with the same name and also designed by Daniel Libeskind.
In South Korea's Incheon, construction has begun on another Libeskind building: the Riverstone shopping and entertainment complex is inspired by a mountain stream flowing over large boulders. Likewise, the volumes that make up the future building will be united by the blue ribbon of the "current" space. The complex will include a shopping center with boutiques, a department store, a cinema, an indoor ice rink, cafes and restaurants, as well as two pedestrian bridges. Riverstone is due to open in 2013.
