The appearance of a sports complex on the outskirts of the Spanish capital should increase its chances of hosting the 2016 Olympics, but so far the center has received its baptism of fire during the Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open last week.

It is a rectangular block lined with porous steel panels. The center received its second official name La Caja Mágica - "magic box" - because of the transformer ceiling. For outdoor competitions, the roofs of each of its three halls can be raised like a box and moved to the side. It also allows you to save energy consumption for ventilation during concerts and other public events.

The industrial aesthetics of the center's appearance is emphasized by the "fireman" red color of the spectators' rows of the main court of the complex, designed for 12,500 spectators (its "mobile" roof is 103 mx 73 m). The two smaller arenas can accommodate 3,500 and 2,500 fans, respectively.

From the west, the building is adjoined by an elongated volume of the building with 6 training courts and 5 small competition courts, each for 350 spectators. There is also a tennis school, club, fitness center, swimming pool and the headquarters of the Madrid Tennis Federation. There are 16 outdoor courts nearby.

The sports complex is surrounded by a park with an area of 8 hectares, which is open to residents of neighboring districts. So that they are not forced to bypass the perimeter of the tennis center itself, a pedestrian bridge will be thrown across it.
