Architects consider the idea that serenity and loneliness are prerequisites for successful learning is hopelessly outdated. Students, faculty and other university staff will be able to take advantage of the full breadth of digital and any other academic resources at the center. In addition, a bridge will connect the center to the university library.
The new student center is not only focused on the internal needs of the university: its broader, urban-planning role is in the implementation of the connection between the campus and the city, which, among other things, will be created by the "plaza" raised above the street level and the shops overlooking the busy highway on its first and basement floors.
Green elements include a 50% vegetated roof and extensive use of natural light. The total area of the building will be 14.5 thousand m2. Construction should begin this year and end in winter 2014.
